Magdalena Nile del Río (26 December 1906 – 22 August 2003) was an Argentine professional singer and movie actress, better known as Imperio Argentina; she became a citizen of Spain in 1999.

Del Río performed in Argentina's theaters, where she had a long and successful career. At that time, her stage name was Pettit Imperio. But her most successful moments came after she moved to Spain. It was there that she changed her name to Imperio Argentina, as a way to honor her "other country". While in Spain, del Río participated in many movies, and she participated frequently on television and radio. She obtained Spanish citizenship in 1999.

Biography

Danseuse et chanteuse célèbre toute jeune, dès son arrivée en Espagne, elle apparut sur les écrans en 1927. Elle était très amie avec Marlène Dietrich.

En 1989, elle reçoit la Médaille d'or du mérite des beaux-arts du Ministère de l'Éducation, de la Culture et des Sports espagnol.

Rome, juin 1800. Alors que l’issue de la bataille de Marengo est encore incertaine le comte Palmieri est exécuté sur la terrasse du château Saint-Ange. Cette ressemblance suscite la jalousie de son amante Tosca, célèbre cantatrice qui doit chanter le soir même lors d’un concert devant la reine et vient voir le peintre entre deux répétitions avec le Maestro Paisiello. Cavaradossi parvient à cacher Angelotti dans sa villa hors les murs mais Scarpia, chef de la police secrète, espère utiliser la jalousie de Tosca pour retrouver les traces du fugitif.
