Jacob O'Reiley commence sa carrière en 2000 en détenant le rôle principal d'un court-métrage intitulé La Version Irlandaise au côté de Jonas Armstrong. Puis après être apparu dans Bloody Sunday, il part aux États-Unis et s'installe provisoirement là-bas pour le tournage de plusieurs films comme Code 46, tout en restant fidèle à la Grande-Bretagne et en jouant dans Ghost Squad ou Vol 93.En 2008, Andrew Ray Jackson choisit Jacob O'Reiley pour tourner au côté de Scott Christian dans sa série Hitman, tueur malgré lui. Syracuse "Circus" (Colin Farrell) is trawling with his fishing boat and pulls up a catch and finds a barely dressed young woman caught in his net. He sees she is alive and resuscitates her. She calls herself Ondine (Alicja Bachleda) and refuses the idea to be taken to hospital as she doesn't want to be seen by anyone else. Circus accepts she has no memory to explain her situation. He shelters her in a caravan house in a quiet harbor that belonged to his late mother. This makes him late picking up his wheelchair bound daughter Annie (Alison Barry) who stays with his ex-wife Maura (Dervla Kirwan). During Annie's dialysis, he tells her a story about a fisherman that catches a woman out of the sea. Annie explains the woman could be a magical selkie. Annie receives a new powerchair from the CRC, and is returned home being greeted by Maura's boyfriend Alex (Tony Curran). Maura flips Circus off for missing the doctor for news on a kidney match for Annie, he returns to his empty house alone.

In the small fishing town of Nightmute, Alaska, 17-year-old Kay Connell (Crystal Lowe) is found murdered. LAPD detectives Will Dormer (Al Pacino) and Hap Eckhart (Martin Donovan) are sent to assist the local police with their investigation, at the request of police chief Nyback (Paul Dooley), an old colleague of Will's. Also, an intense Internal Affairs investigation in Los Angeles is about to put Dormer under the microscope. Eckhart reveals that Internal Affairs has offered him an immunity deal in exchange for his testimony regarding one of Dormer's past cases. Eckhart says that he has no choice but to accept the deal, to Dormer's frustration.
