He is best known for his roles as Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Caius in The Twilight Saga, King Arthur in the Starz series Camelot, the young Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, and Jace Wayland in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Thomas the Tank Engine is running his branch line with his coaches Annie and Clarabel while trying to spot Bertie in order to have a race. Annie and Clarabel warn him not to yet Thomas becomes conceited leading him to nearly having collisions with rail-workers and Toby. Bertie, now confident of winning the race suddenly gets stuck behind Oliver the Excavator leading to Thomas taking the lead. As Oliver turns round a corner, Bertie races away, and The Thin Clergyman is seen riding a bike and looking in Thomas' direction. Thomas then arrives at Ffarquhar while Annie and Clarabel warn him not to race as The Fat Controller would be cross. Bertie then arrives fuming claiming that he keeps getting stuck behind excavators ever since construction of the new branch line from Arlesburgh Harbour to Harwick. Annie and Clarabel are worried about what the Fat Controller will do to their branch line if there is a new one being built but Thomas, still conceited, is certain nothing will happen as he is the Fat Controllers number one engine.

New York City teenager Clary Fray begins seeing a strange symbol, worrying her mother Jocelyn Fray and her mother's friend Luke Garroway. Later, at a nightclub with her friend, Simon Lewis, Clary is the only person who sees Jace Wayland killing a man. Bella awakens from her transformation from human to vampire, aware of her new abilities, but unaware of changes within the coven, such as Jacob having imprinted on her child, Renesmee. It also appears that Bella's father, Charlie, has been attempting to contact the Cullens for updates on Bella's illness. They intend to tell him she didn't survive, which requires that they move out of Forks, Washington to protect their identities. After a monologue delivered by Derek Jacobi, the film opens in 1603, with Robert Cecil, Earl of Salisbury, ordering a desperate search for a trove of manuscripts. Ben Jonson, who has the manuscripts, flees down the streets of London and into the theatre known as The Rose. Hot on his heels, the soldiers who have been sent to arrest Jonson, break down the doors and intentionally set the theatre alight. The film opens with Harry Mitchel (Colin Farrell) (convicted of GBH under never-explained circumstances) leaving prison. He is propositioned by his friend and former partner-in-crime, Billy Norton (Ben Chaplin), to live in a nice 'acquired' apartment, but on condition he work for Billy's criminal boss. On her 18th birthday, Bella Swan wakes up from a dream in which she sees herself as an old woman. In 1846, a barber named Benjamin Barker arrives in London, accompanied by sailor Anthony Hope ("No Place Like London").
