Jane Wolfe (de son nom complet Sarah Jane Wolf) est une actrice américaine née à Saint Petersburg (Pennsylvanie) le 21 mars 1875 et morte à Glendale (Californie) le 29 mars 1958.

Biography

Jane Wolfe s'installe à New York à la fin du XIX siècle et commence une carrière théâtrale. Elle devient une actrice du cinéma muet et tourne dans plus de 90 films entre 1910 et 1920. Puis elle quitte le milieu du spectacle et elle se consacre à une vie d'étude, principalement orientée vers l'occultisme. Elle fait la connaissance de l'écrivain anglais Aleister Crowley qu'elle rejoint à l'Abbaye de Thélème en Sicile.
Elle meurt en 1958, ayant toujours continué à enseigner cette religion.

A gang of men frame Harvey Hanford (Houdini) for murder, and also decide to kidnap his fiancée. Hanford is quickly apprehended by the police and falsely imprisoned for the crime. Shortly afterward, Hanford escapes and pursues the men who framed him. The film unfolds as a series of Houdini's trademark set-piece stunts and escapes; his tormentors chain him up and imprison him on numerous occasions, only for Hanford to escape. The film concludes with a climactic mid-air collision following an aeroplane pursuit. Following the collision, Hanford is reunited with his fiancée.

As described in a film magazine, Octavia Bassett (Martin) of Bloody Gulch, after a breakup with her sweetheart, decides to visit her Aunt Belinda (Wolfe) in Slowbridge. Her apparel and automobile shock the inhabitants of Slowbridge, and tongues are set wagging at the musicale of Lady Theobald (Crowell). Octavia matches wits with Captain Barold (Gerrald).
