Joe Warfield (born November 6, 1937) is an American actor born in Baltimore, Maryland.
Joe is a veteran of stage, film and television working as an actor, director and teacher. He is a former full-time Professor and Head of Acting Study in the NYU Grad Film Department teaching Directing Actors. Previously, he taught at Loyola University, New Orleans as well as the Maine International Film and Video Workshops in Rockport, Maine. Other teaching credits include New York University School for Film and Television, University of New Orleans, and American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Joe was an associate artist at Southern Repertory Theatre in New Orleans and traveled to Moscow with the company’s production of Tennessee Williams’ plays and to Paris to direct the world premiere of Solitaire at the American Center. He was the Artistic Director of Gorham’s Bluff Theatre in Gorham's Bluff, Alabama for six years. Joe is the recipient of the New Orleans Stage Journal Award for Best Director and his productions have won numerous Big Easy Awards. He was also awarded a Dramalogue award for his performance in The American Nightmare.

The film opens with a report announcing the murder in New Orleans of Reverend Jackson Bird, a controversial evangelist preacher who used his powerful position on television to spread the word of God. Detective Cassidy (Horsley) is assigned to the case, and is led to his prime suspect: Claire Laurent (Lucci), the owner of a lingerie company called French Silk. Claire would have a strong motive for killing Reverend Bird, considering that he wanted to close down her company for thinking it was too obscene. Even though Claire denies ever having met the man, the media think of her as the murderer, leading to much negative publicity. Cassidy, who is known for being tough, falls for Claire after the first meeting. Following the announce of his death, Claire's model friend Martine (Belafonte) immediately flies over from New York to support her. Claire is unaware that Martine had multiple reasons for coming over to New Orleans, including to resume an affair with married Congressman Alister Petrie (Metzler).

In New Orleans, a homeless veteran named Douglas Binder is the target of a hunt. He is given a belt containing $10,000 and told that he must reach the other side of town where he would then win the money and his life. Hunting him are the hunt organizer Emil Fouchon, a businessman named Mr. Lopaki who has paid $500,000 for the opportunity to hunt a human, Fouchon's lieutenant Pik Van Cleaf, and mercenaries including Stephan and Peterson. Binder fails to reach his destination and is shot by three crossbow bolts. Van Cleaf retrieves the money belt.

Ancien étudiant libéral des années 1960 devenu détective privé de Chicago, le solitaire Moses Wine reçoit, un jour, la visite d'une ancienne petite amie de lycée, Lila Shea. In 1914, going from a lawyer to a writer, and then to a film director, is the career path on which we find Leo Harrigan (Ryan O'Neal). But Leo has problems as well, such as being hopelessly smitten with his leading lady, who chooses to grab his attentions by getting herself engaged to his vulgar and ignorant leading man, Buck Greenaway (Burt Reynolds). Leo is forced to move from New Jersey to California to keep one step ahead of the Motion Picture Patents Company, who are out to destroy any non-authorized equipment violating the Edison Trust. Leo finally settles in with other filmmakers in Hollywoodland, California, and makes a series of dramatic, romantic, and comedic shorts as throwaways. While initially believing movies are just a brief flickering kind of entertainment, Leo is profoundly affected by the 1915 world premiere of D.W. Griffith's Birth of a Nation, which transforms the motion picture industry.
