John Ericson (sometimes spelled Erickson; September 25, 1926) is a German-American film and television actor. Born in Germany with the surname Meibes (sources differ as to his birth forename, with different sources citing John, Josef and Joseph), Ericson trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, and played the lead role in Stalag 17 by Donald Bevan and Edmund Trzcinski on Broadway (1951). He went on to make a number of films for MGM in quick succession in the 1950s.

His first appearance was in Teresa (1951), directed by Fred Zinnemann. He went on to appear in a series of films which included Rhapsody, The Student Prince, Green Fire (all in 1954), and in Bad Day at Black Rock (1955). He co-starred with Barbara Stanwyck in Forty Guns (1957).

For the next thirty years his career continued mostly on television. He appeared in the lead role in "The Peter Bartley Story" of CBS's fantasy drama, The Millionaire. Child actor Johnny Washbrook appeared in the same episode in a flashback segment of Ericson as a boy. He appeared with Dorothy Malone in the episode "Mutiny" of CBS's Appointment with Adventure (which aired on January 1, 1956). He made guest appearances in The Restless Gun (1958), and Target: The Corruptors! (1961). From 1965–66, he co-starred as the partner of Anne Francis in Honey West. He and Francis had played brother and sister in Bad Day at Black Rock. He starred in Pretty Boy Floyd (1960) and appeared in such films as 7 Faces of Dr. Lao (1964), The Money Jungle (1968), The Bamboo Saucer (1968), Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971), and Crash! (1977).

When a 100-year-old military academy falls on hard times and is forced to merge with a school for girls, the academy's resident ghosts (Dick O'Neill, Victor French and Louise Latham) are outraged and aroused from their sleep to seek justice. Outraged by this disrespect of tradition, the spirits are further appalled by a modern world of equal rights for women, rock 'n' roll as well as the dishonest designs a wealthy matron (Ruta Lee) has for the school. Honor-bound "to defend these hallowed halls", the ghost trio declares war on the living who are involved in their own battle of the sexes.

The story alternates between scenes at the Admiralty and scenes at sea, particularly showing Captain Rogge's humanity and chivalrous conduct of his military engagements. Rogge was one of the few German flag rank officers who was not arrested by the Allies after the war, due to his conduct as a military officer.
