Biography
Débutant au cinéma en 1936 comme producteur, il devient monteur dès 1939. Il entame sa carrière de réalisateur à la Republic Pictures, puis dans les années 1950, il passe à Universal. À partir de 1960, il se détache de la mise en scène et revient à la production et au montage.Selon Jean Tulard, il excelle à décrire des voyages ou des poursuites où s'affrontrent des hommes de caractère (le ranger et son prisonnier dans Les Sept chemins du couchant ou les bandits encerclés par les Indiens dans Quantez, leur dernier repaire).

Architect Harold Ventimore (Tony Randall) buys a large antique container that turns out to imprison a djinn named Fakrash (Burl Ives), whom Harold inadvertently sets free. Fakrash is effusively grateful for his release, and persistently tries to do favors for Harold to show his gratitude. However he has been in the brass bottle for a long time, and Fakrash’s unfamiliarity with the modern world causes all sorts of problems when he tries to please his rescuer. Harold ends up in a great deal of trouble, including with his girlfriend, Sylvia Kenton (Barbara Eden).

A man and woman enter the vehicle and make a slow journey through town to the U.S. border, the woman (Joi Lansing) insisting that she hears something ticking. Johnny Williams (Drake), a psychotic serial killer who returns to his hometown to visit his mother (Hutchinson) and widowed sister-in-law Helen (Miller), both of whom are ignorant of his criminal past.
