John Turk (born March 13, 1962) is an American model, bodybuilder, personal trainer, former Chicago police officer, and actor. He has three siblings. He is well recognized in the video game world as the actor who portrayed various characters in Midway's Mortal Kombat series.
Turk has received a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in physical education with a minor in nutrition. He has also competed in several bodybuilding contests holding such titles as Mr. Illinois. He is also a familiar face in the fitness industry and has appeared on the cover of such magazines as Muscle & Fitness, Physical and Planet Muscle.
In the Mortal Kombat video game series, Turk first portrayed characters Sub-Zero and Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 3. In updates of MK3, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy, he also played all the non-cyborg ninja characters — Classic Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Smoke, Rain, Ermac, Noob Saibot, and Chameleon. He also reprised the role of Classic Sub-Zero in the spin-off game Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, also providing the character's voice.
Turk also provided the voices of Vlad and Reptillor in an episode of the online animated videogame-spoofing series Press Start: Bonus Levels entitled "Poker, Mon".
He also appeared in two episodes of the television series Prison Break: "Riots, Drills and the Devil: Parts 1 & 2", where his character was named "Turk".
In 2008, Turk appeared in a small role as a bodyguard in the Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight, also with another Mortal Kombat alumnus Richard Divizio, who played a thug in background of the movie.
In 2009 he starred in a short film called Henchmen[2] by director Adam Koralik[3].
