A minister of Andhra Pradesh Cabinet named Kalamoorthy is removed from his post after the Central Bureau of Investigation proves his involvement in Liquor Mafia and the Election Commission of India declares the first by election after the main elections of that term in that constituency. While a senior ruling party leader Saradhi (Bharath Reddy) is willing to spend ₹25 crore for the election, other senior members ask Sanyasi Naidu (Charan Raj) to shell out ₹50 crores and if he wins in the by election, he would become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Since it is his ambition to rule the state, Sanyasi Naidu accepts to spend ₹50 crores. With the help of his trusted aid, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Sanyasi Naidu brings ₹50 crores to India through Hawala transaction into Old City in Hyderabad. The ACP is tasked with transporting the money to the constituency. On completion of the task and if Sanyasi Naidu becomes the Chief Minister, then the ACP would be promoted as Inspector General (IG) of Police. The ACP goes to the Old city to collect the amount and the money is wrapped in big black plastic bags and is placed in the Deck lid of a Black Innova.

Bujji ( Gopichand) is the only son of a wealthy and influential farmer Anjaneya Prasad (Gadde Rajendra Prasad). The family is well knit together and has strong values and attachments. Bujji comes across Raja Rajeshwari (Taapsee Pannu) in unexpected circumstances and falls in love with her. The independent and spirited Sasirekha (Genelia) is ordered by her father to get married to an NRI. She is to see a video of the groom and his house, but stamps on it, declaring she doesn't want to get married. Dasu (Srikanth) is a rowdy in a basti in Hyderabad. He makes a living out of "settlement of petty issues". A young lawyer Krishnaveni (Bhavana) gets him bail in a petty case and their acquaintance soon develop into romance after a series of events. On the other hand, a politician cum business woman (Jyothy) plans to set up SEZ in that basti that move is protested by dwellers headed by a genuine leader (Sekhar). Meanwhile, a local politician cum rowdy leader Dada (Jayaprakash Reddy) also protests against businesswoman and seeks Rs 200 Crores from if she wants to set up SEZ there. Dasu initially believes Dada as good politician and works for him. When Dada tries to take advantage of Dasu, he realizes his fault and plans to contest against him on a newly floated Mahatma party. How Krishnavani and local theatre artiste bring change in Dasu and make him realize the importance of Mahatma Gandhi's ideology is core point of the movie.

Ramakrishnan or Rakhi (Jr. NTR) aspires to become railway stationmaster like his father (Chandramohan). Before surrendering, he has killed over 49 misogynists. Finally in jail, he kills his sister's friend's murderer like a tiger and in the climax, the main villain ministers . His dialogues in the court are remarkable. The court drama forms the rest of the story.

Karthik (Sairam Shankar), Satya (Allari Naresh), Ali (Abhishek), Lakshmi (Swathi) and Radhika Reddy (Shireen) are childhood friends. They set out to a farmhouse for a party to celebrate the prospective marriage of Lakshmi. On the way they collide with a police vehicle and speed away to the party happening in the outskirts of the city. The policemen in the vehicle are badly hurt and one of them takes note of the car number which hit them. The police raid the party in search of the owners of the car. Panic raises among the crowd and the group consisting of the five friends escape from the party and in process of avoiding the chasing cops, they get lost in the Vikarabad forest. There they tumble upon a ghastly incident where a man is taking the live of a toddler as part a sacrificial ritual and black magic. Ali shoots the entire episode with his video camera. It is revealed that the man (Siva Prasad) who killed the toddler is Gattayya, a politician who believes that using black magic can make him successful. The group gets discovered by the politician while filming the ritual. With the goons of the politician chasing them, the group escapes from there. A corrupt cop Raju Nayak (Satya Prakash) is hired by the politician to search for the group. The group cannot return to their homes because the police are still looking for them at their respective houses. The group struggles with the situation and finally emerge victorious when they upload the video that was recorded to the internet. Raju Nayak is killed by the Commissioner of Police and Gattayya is arrested.

Shekhar (Sanjay Kapoor) and Nandini (Karisma Kapoor) are friends living in Canada with their two uncles. Shekhar proposes to Nandini and she says yes and now they have a young son named Raja. Shekhar hears breaking news of violence in India, the family journeys to his ancestral house in rural North-East State of India and Nandini is shocked to see that Shekhar's family is embroiled in feudal gang wars. Shekhar's father is Narasimha (Nana Patekar). Shekhar tries to bring peace between the warring gangs, but is attacked by the rival gang & killed on way to a re-conciliatory meeting that he wanted to attend on his father's behalf. Nandini feels insecure and decides to leave India with her son but Narasimha imprisons them. Desperate to escape, she goes on a difficult journey to return to Canada with the help of Shekhar's mother and sister. Wanted by Narasimha, Nandini seeks help from drifter Jai Singh (Shahrukh Khan) who after hesitation, helps her and her son board a train to Jaipur. In order to protect Nandini and her son, Jai fights with the goon and dies after killing the goons. Meanwhile, Shekhar's mother begs his father to let Nandini and her son go. However, Narasimha goes but at the airport, he gets emotional and after kissing his grandson, allows them to go. The films ends with Nandini along with her son boarding a plane to Canada.

Way back in 1800's, on a Diwali midnight, a zamindar insults Goddess Durga by try stealing her idol in the temple in a state of inebriation and gets killed by the enraged Goddess Durga who puts a curse on his heirs that she is going to take one family member each every 48 years on the day of Diwali and one male heir dies accidentally at the end of every 48 years. The present year denotes end of another 48 years and the Target of Durga is Murari, the Grandson of Sabari whose husband died 48 years back because of the curse. He is survived by his father Sattipandu, brothers Sreenayya, Baachi and Soori and their respective wives and kids along with Sabari. Murari is named after Sabari's husband and thus is called with utmost respect by all family members except Gopi who calls him either by his name or as Kanayya. She treats him like her son and even decides to go for abortion clandestinely so that she would not neglect him once she has her own offspring. Thus since his childhood Murari considers Gopi as his mother since his mother died giving birth to him.
