Kyle Richard Gass (born July 14, 1960), also known as KG or Kage, is an American rock musician, singer-songwriter and actor. He is a member of the comedy rock band Tenacious D, winner of a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance, alongside longtime friend Jack Black. He also has his own super-group called The Kyle Gass Band and he was also a member of the band Trainwreck before it split up in 2011. In Tenacious D, Gass plays lead guitar and sings backup vocals, and also plays the role of Black's comic foil in most of their comedy routines. He is the godfather of Black's son.

After their wedding Rachel and Sam decide to start their own life. The Langham Hotel is willing to let anybody who can take the place of the landscaper and chef live in the hotel. Sam and Rachel bring Chloe and Papi to the hotel where Chloe and Papi meet Oscar and Jenny, the hotel's Doggy Day School teachers. Papi is less than thrilled when he discovers he will no longer be teaching the pups. Mr Hollis, the manager notices Chloe and asks if she can make appearances as the hotel has gained a major threat, Montague, the new hotel to rival the Langham. Because of this Sam and Rachel get the jobs. Rosa is also not much happier at the thought of Doggy Day School.

The comedy centers on Glen "Fitz" Fitzgerald (James Pumphrey), a young man, marijuana dealer, and former rock band drummer living in Los Angeles, California. His best friends dropped out of the band, Torigl, three months prior, causing the group to part and him to fall back on selling weed in his garage. He dates Monica (Abby Elliott), who works at a news company, and hangs out with his rebellious teen neighbor, Jimmy (Dylan O'Brien), who skips school. Fitz also believes in the "triangle theory", where everything in the world can connect in group of threes (a joke ran throughout the film). One day, after Fitz is nearly arrested in a weed bust of one of his clients, he leaves his girlfriend behind and flees to temporarily stay in Oakland, California to avoid arrest. Jimmy convinces him to join his trip so he can visit his mother there, as his father James Malone Sr (Rob Riggle) plans to send him to military school for missing and failing classes.

The film is a series of vignettes with Matthew Lillard's sex advice is intercut within every couple segments. Mike (Ryan Pinkston) tries to impress his crush, Stacy (Cherilyn Wilson). As a young man, JB (Jack Black) leaves his religious family and oppressive Midwestern town for Hollywood on a quest to form the world's most awesome rock band. There he meets acoustic guitarist KG (Kyle Gass), who is performing on the street, and begins worshipping him as a rock god because of his skills and attitude. KG feeds JB's fantasy by pretending to be famous with a self-named band ("The Kyle Gass Project"), and exploits him to do work such as cleaning his apartment and buying him weed (under the promise that JB can audition for his fictitious band.) After JB learns KG is actually unemployed and living off his parents, the two become equal, and KG apologizes to JB by giving him a brand-new guitar. They create their own band: Tenacious D, named for birthmarks found on their behinds. (JB has a birthmark which says: "Tenac", and KG has a mark which reads: "ious D".

At an open mic night, Tenacious D are performing "Training Melody" to an indifferent crowd, one of whom says they suck (Dan Harmon). After the show, they get a message from Michael Keaton as himself, saying that the time-space continuum has been disrupted in the Ford's Theater in 1850. After they travel there, they discover Abraham Lincoln walked out of his play due to hating it, therefore preventing the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Kyle Gass attempts to convince him to get shot and bribes him with seven cents, which he thinks is a thousand dollars there, but Abraham naturally refuses. The two confront the Time Goblin (Jason Reed) who staged the scenario so he could confront Tenacious D and take their "time machine" (a normal-looking car with time-travel capabilities, much like the DeLorean time machine). They fight, and the Goblin wins. The goblin ties them into the presidential party box so John Wilkes Booth will assassinate them instead and takes the time machine. The two break free and discover Abraham is now willing to get shot, since he discovered from Kyle's seven cents his face is on the future penny and is now grateful. Right when Jack and Kyle realize they still don't have a time machine, they discover H.G. Wells, who has the time machine from his book and they leave with it.
