Mari Aldon (1925–2004) was a Lithuanian-born American actress. After making her screen debut in a minor role in The Locket (1946) she gradually evolved to playing supporting or lead roles. Her most notable performance was starring opposite Gary Cooper in the 1951 Western Distant Drums. By the mid-1950s she was appearing either in B Pictures like the British thriller Mask of Dust (1954) or in supporting roles in more expensive films such as David Lean's Summertime (1955). After this point she worked largely in television.

She was the wife of film director Tay Garnett.

Biography

Mari Aldon fut l'épouse du réalisateur Tay Garnett de 1953 à 1977. Celui-ci la poussa à devenir actrice, alors qu'elle n'avait qu'une formation de danseuse.

Elle ne tourna que quelques rôles mineurs, à l'exception de celui que lui offrit Raoul Walsh dans Les Aventures du capitaine Wyatt où elle fut la partenaire de Gary Cooper.

Dès 1950, elle se tourna vers la télévision. Elle apparut dans plusieurs séries célèbres, comme Bonanza et Perry Mason.

Elle revint au cinéma, discrètement, pour y tourner deux autres films majeurs signés Mankiewicz et David Lean.
