Martin Langer (né le 8 janvier 1959 à Hanovre) est un directeur de la photographie allemand.

Biography

Langer a d'abord travaillé en tant qu'accessoiriste, assistant sonore et éclairagiste avant de se tourner vers le métier de directeur de la photographie. Après son mariage, Langer prend d'abord le nom de son épouse, ce qui explique pourquoi dans de nombreuses productions il a le nom de Martin Peglau. Après son divorce, il reprend son nom de naissance.

Pour son travail pour le film biographique Die Bubi Scholz Story, il reçoit à la fois le Deutscher Kamerapreis en 1998 et le Deutscher Fernsehpreis en 1999. Pour le téléfilm Die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt, il est nommé pour le prix Adolf-Grimme en 2003. Il est nommé pour le Deutscher Filmpreis pour Sophie Scholl : Les Derniers Jours en 2005 et Der ganz große Traum en 2011. Il est récompensé pour 14 jours à perpétuité.

Langer est membre de la Deutsche Filmakademie. Il vit avec l'actrice Barbara Auer à Hambourg.

A la fin du XIXe siècle, Konrad Koch, un professeur d'anglais, revient d'un séjour en Grande-Bretagne. Il vient de découvrir un nouveau sport appelé le football. The central character of the film is Harry Melchior, played by Heino Ferch and based on the real tunneler, Hasso Herschel. Despite being imprisoned for several years for his role in the June 1953 uprising in East Germany, Melchior competes for and wins the national swimming championship in 1961. With the aid of a false passport and disguise, Harry succeeds in fleeing to West Berlin. His best friend, Matthis (played by Sebastian Koch) manages to escape through the underground sewer, but Matthis's pregnant wife Carola (played by Claudia Michelsen) was not so lucky and remained in East Berlin.

German tourist Jasmin Münchgstettner (Sägebrecht) from Rosenheim and her husband fight whilst they are driving across the desert. She storms out of the car and makes her way to the isolated truck stop, which is run by the tough-as-nails and short-tempered Brenda (Pounder), whose own husband, after an argument out front, is soon to leave as well. Jasmin takes a room at the adjacent motel. Initially suspicious of the foreigner, Brenda eventually befriends Jasmin and allows her to work at the café.
