Maurice Mair Cohen est un producteur américain né le 6 mars 1889 à Moscou en Russie et mort le 16 septembre 1949 à Los Angeles en Californie.

Biography

Il fait ses études à Chicago. Il travaille dans l'industrie et le commerce avant de créer en 1925 la Invincible Pictures Corporation.

La Invincible va produire, comme la plupart des compagnies présentes sur Poverty Row, des films de série B, distribués par sa compagnie sœur, la Chesterfield Motion Pictures Corporation, présidée par George R. Batcheller. Les deux compagnies seront absorbées en 1935 par Republic Pictures. Toutefois cette fusion ne durera pas et dès 1936 Chesterfield et Invincible reprendront leur partenariat.

En 1937, Maury Cohen quitte la Invincible et devient producteur associé à la RKO.

First Lieutenant Jake Tanner (Jan-Michael Vincent) shares ICBM silo duty at an American air force missile base in the Californian desert with Major Eugene "Sam" Denton (George Peppard), who is requesting not to work with him. On their way to duty, Denton talks to Airman Tom Keegan (Paul Winfield), an aspiring artist. When the United States detects incoming nuclear missiles from the Soviet Union, Tanner and Denton launch part of the retaliatory strike. The United States is hit hard, although it manages to intercept 40% of Soviet missiles.

On a stormy night, a theatrical producer, his secretary, and playwright Prescott Ames are stranded when their car skids off the road and gets stuck. À sa sortie de prison, Phillip Whitney annonce à son ami Bennie qu'il va désormais marcher droit, puis rend visite à son frère John, un avocat, qui n'était pas au courant que Phillip avait été incarcéré. Comme John est très pris par son travail, Phillip devient ami avec sa femme Kay, et ils tombent rapidement amoureux l'un de l'autre. Ils regrettent bientôt ce qui est arrivé et Phillip décide de partir. Mais il aperçoit près de la maison de son frère un ancien codétenu, Gympy McLane, et se souvient que ce dernier voulait se venger de John. Phillip se confronte avec McLane, mais dans les tirs qui s'en suivent, les deux hommes sont touchés mortellement. John n'apprendra donc jamais l'infidélité de sa femme.
