He debuted in filming the 1991 film Patthar Ke Phool under director Anant Balani and starring Salman Khan.

The story is based on Aditya Kumar (Ajay Devgan), a famous actor who plays a very famous superhero on TV, who lives with his family which consists of his wife and two children. He consistently tries to explain to his son that all cartoons are fake and he shouldn't waste his time watching them, to which his son replies, he is also a fake hero as stuntmen do the real action. Humiliated, he leaves home, and is soon kidnapped by the cartoons his son watches. Unbelievable, a group of cartoons named Devtoons from a cartoon world named Toonpur would like Aditya to fight their enemy Jagaru and leave Toonpur in peace.

Raj Khanna (Rishi Kapoor) is a wealthy businessman who lives with his wife Archana (Rati Agnihotri), stepsister Devyani (Mita Vasisht), her spouse, and her son Teddy, in a mansion. Raj and Archana's lives are marred by marital discord, until they separate. Shortly before separating, Archana gives birth to identical twins: one of these is taken by Devyani and handed to Raj without Archana's knowledge. This infant becomes an embittered young woman sentimentially named Sweety (Kajol), and Raj becomes a helpless alcoholic. Archana has moved to London with the other daughter, Tina (Kajol). In contrast to Sweety's ferocity, Tina is meek, compassionate, sympathetic, and demure. The film opens before the declaration of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. At a Forward operating Airbase Air force Wing Commander Anand 'Andy' Bajwa, setting his stop watch waits for the Air raid Siren to go. As the siren goes he sprints Towards his MiG-21 armed, fueled and Ready for take off. Bajwa and His Air Force wingmen soon take off to an unknown Airbase in Rajasthan. Once there, he is Debriefed by his superior that he & his Squadron are assigned to the Jaisalmer sector and has to fly outdated Hawker Hunter Ground attack planes (with no night vision capabilities) to support the Indian Army. He is soon joined by his Brother-in-arms Army Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri (played by Sunny Deol) as they meet on a courier flight and speak about the possibility of opening of the Western front in light of the East Pakistan conflict. Kuldip takes up command of a company of the 23rd Battalion Punjab Regiment, arguing the light defence being assigned to the military post of Longewala. He meets his second in command 2nd Lt Dharamvir Bhan (Akshaye Khanna) (who happens to be the son of a 1965 Indo-Pakistani-War veteran who was killed during that war) and the Company NCO Subedar Mathura Das (Sudesh Berry). The company moves to the remote outpost in the deserts of Rajasthan and begin to expand the rudimentary Border Security Force (BSF) post and does a recce of the area up to the international border with Pakistan. They meet the post's BSF commandant Bhairon Singh (Sunil Shetty), a deeply patriotic man who expresses his love for the desert.

Kiran is the only child of a gangster father. She was brought up in such a way that she does not know of her father's unlawful habits. Kiran runs into one of the Police Inspector's son Suraj, they both fall in love. When Kiran's father finds out that his child is in love with an honest police officer's son, who has been assigned to find him, he is shocked, but decides to give up all his unlawful activities for his daughter's future. Inspector Abhay Rathod (Sunil Shetty) is an honest and diligent Police Inspector employed with Bombay Police. He was assigned the case of racketeer and criminal don, Shekhar Mohan (Ajay Devgan). Abhay successfully entraps and arrests him, and has him sentenced to a long jail term. Years later, Abhay is now the Assistant Commissioner of Police; is a happy family man with his wife (Priyanka Chopra) and son Chirag (Parth Dave) and Shekhar Mohan has completed his jail term and is looking to seek vengeance against Abhay. He does so by kidnapping Chirag and taking him along with him. The object for the kidnap was to trace his lost son, whose information he feels, is with Abhay. After several attempts to get the answer, finally Shekhar tricks Abhay, making him feel that he has killed Chirag. Abhay's wife, feeling Chirag is killed, informs Shekhar that Chirag is his son. Shekhar, is now wonder struck and tries to get Chirag's affection and love. Shekhar finds out that Chirag loves racing and takes him on various race courses where the child is thrilled to watch fast sport cars, and soon starts a friendship with "Uncle" Shekhar.
