Nour El-Sherif (Arabic: نور الشريف‎; 28 April 1946 – 11 August 2015) was a contemporary Egyptian actor. His birth name is Mohamad Geber Mohamad ِAbd Allah (Arabic: محمد جابر محمد عبد الله‎).

El-Sherif was born in the working-class neighbourhood of Sayeda Zainab in Cairo (Arabic: السيدة زينب‎). El-Sherif was married to Poussi (1972–2006) and together they had two daughters, Sarah and Mai. He got divorced from Poussi in 2006 and they reunited in early 2015 during the difficulty of his illness. He also played soccer before choosing acting as a career. Nour El-Sherif is sometimes credited as Nour El Cherif, Nour El-Cherif or Nour Al-Sharif.

Son nom de naissance est Mohamad Geber Mohamad Abdallah (en arabe : محمد جابر محمد عبد الله). El-Sherif est né dans le quartier populaire de Sayeda Zainab au Caire (en arabe: السيدة زينب). Mohamad Gaber Mohamad Abdallah étudia à l'Institut supérieur des arts dramatiques du Caire, dont il sortit majeur de sa promotion en 1967. Membre de l'équipe junior du club de football de Zamalek, il renonça à sa passion pour le ballon rond pour se consacrer exclusivement aux planches. El-Sherif a été marié à Poussi (1972-2006) et ensemble ils ont eu deux filles, Sarah et Mai.

The film opens with a montage tracing the building's history, as wealthy expatriate and Egyptian residents give way, after the 1952 coup that overthrew King Farouk and eventually resulted in the installation of Gamal Abdel Nasser as President of Egypt, to new families, and as the rooftop storage rooms are converted into living space for lower-class families. The rooftop community, effectively a slum neighborhood, is symbolic of the urbanization of Egypt and of the burgeoning population growth in its large cities in recent decades, especially among the poor and working classes.
