Biography
Chef opérateur de quatre-vingts films (italiens surtout, ainsi que des coproductions) entre 1919 et 1966, Otello Martelli est plus particulièrement connu pour avoir collaboré à plusieurs réalisations de Federico Fellini, dont La strada (1954, avec Giulietta Masina, Anthony Quinn et Richard Basehart) et La dolce vita (1960, avec Marcello Mastroianni, Anouk Aimée et Anita Ekberg).Durant sa carrière, il travaille également avec les réalisateurs Roberto Roberti, le père de Sergio Leone (ex. Three men are each provided with a part of a map and a photograph from the time when they were children: the US-American Whitey, the Frenchman Étienne and the Japanese Lester. Their maps lead all of them to the same gold mine. When they meet they figure out they are all sons of the late mine owner Langdon. The land around the mine has been bequeathed to them and the saloon girl Mady who they recognise as their sister. Nonetheless their heritage is under the sway of megalomaniac gangster boss Fuller, who dresses in toga and lives in a Roman-style palace with local women performing erotic dances. As a team they must fight him and his gang of thugs (who do wear Western outfit).

A happy, laughing Cabiria (Giulietta Masina) is standing on a river bank with her current boyfriend and live-in lover, Giorgio (Franco Fabrizi).
