Pat O'Malley (September 3, 1890 – May 21, 1966) was an American vaudeville and stage performer prior to starting a prolific film career at the age of sixteen.

Biography

Patrick H. O'Malley Jr., ou « Pat O'Malley », a commencé sa carrière au cirque avant de se tourner vers le cinéma. En 1915, il a épousé l'actrice Lillian Wilkes (morte le 15 décembre 1976). le couple a eu trois enfants, Sheila, Eileen et Kathleen.

De 1918 à 1927, il est apparu dans des dizaines de films muets aussi bien en personnage principal qu'en acteur de second plan. Il a joué dans des classiques comme Pour l'humanité en 1918 (The Heart of Humanity), My Wild Irish Rose, The Virginian , Brothers Under the Skin. Sa carrière décline avec l'avènement du parlant. Il a rapidement été relégué à des rôles de compléments, participant à plusieurs centaines de films dans des rôles secondaires.

Dans les années 1950, O'Malley connait un regain de notoriété en jouant dans la série musicale Faye Emerson's Wonderful Town sur CBS. Dans les années 1960, il a continué à apparaitre à la télévision, notamment dans la série The Twilight Zone. On le voit une dernière fois au cinéma dans le film de Blake Edwards, Le Jour du vin et des roses (Days of Wine and Roses).

Pat O'Malley était le père de l'actrice Kathleen O'Malley (1924-).

Mort d'une crise cardiaque en 1966, à soixante-cinq ans, il a été enterré à San Fernando Mission Cemetery.

Esther Blodgett is a talented aspiring singer with a band, and Norman Maine is a former matinee idol with a career in the early stages of decline. The story of the rise of politician Willie Stark (Broderick Crawford) from a rural county seat to the governor's mansion is depicted in the film. Stark teaches himself law, and as a lawyer, continues to fight the local establishment, championing the local people and gaining popularity. Along the way he loses his innocence and becomes as corrupt as the politicians he once fought against. When his son becomes paralyzed following a drunk driving accident that kills a female passenger, Stark's world starts to unravel and he discovers that not everyone can be bought off.
