The plot of the movie is centered in the city of Karlovac in 1992, during the Croatian War of Independence. The front lines, where Croatian and Serbian forces fight each other, lie near the city. Meanwhile, in the city of Karlovac, a Serbian civilian Vasić is murdered. The story follows the local police officer Barbir (Dražen Kühn), who tries to solve the murder in spite of ethnic hatred and war revolving nearby.

Bartul Burt Marinkovich, un millionnaire émigré croate, meurt et laisse inopinément ses millions de dollars non pas à sa belle jeune femme, Nicole, mais à son neveu inconnu et illégitime, Bepo Stambuk, qui vit à Bol sur l'île de Brac. C'est la revanche posthume de Marinkovich sur Nicole pour sa découverte qu'elle entretient une liaison de longue date avec son secrétaire personnel, Douglas Caine. Un jeune avocat d'origine croate nommé Elisabeth Horvath est chargé de trouver Bepo et de lui transférer son héritage, mais en même temps, Nicole et Caine engagent deux assassins pour aller à Brac et tuer l'héritier de Marinkovich. Lorsque Horvath et les deux assassins arrivent, ils découvrent indépendamment qu'il y a trois hommes à Bol nommé Bepo Stambuk, et doivent déterminer lequel est le bon.

The film centers on the Croatian island of Vis in 1998. During the funeral of local Partisan, his Partisan comrades see the ghost of Marshal Josip Broz Tito. Soon the news spreads around and also other people claim to see the Marshal's ghost. Soon, the policeman Stjepan (Dražen Kühn) arrives on the island and decides to investigate the whole situation. Meanwhile the mayor Luka (Ivo Gregurević) smells a business opportunity and begins to organize communist-era events to attract tourism. However, local Partisan veterans of the 7th Dalmatian Brigade, led by Marinko (Ilija Ivezić) decide to take arms and control the town, turning it into the communist-era shape.
