Stephen J. Friedman is a Scriptwriter and Producer American born on 15 march 1937 at Brooklyn (USA)
Stephen J. Friedman (March 15, 1937 – October 4, 1996) was an American film producer known for The Last Picture Show (1971) and The Big Easy (1988). In 1980 he formed Kings Road Entertainment — named after the West Hollywood street where he lived—, making him one of the first independent film producers to raise substantial film funding through a publicly traded company.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Friedman graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and then obtained a law degree at Harvard University. He began his legal career with the Federal Trade Commission, then went to work as an entertainment attorney for Columbia Pictures and Paramount Studios.
Anxious to be a producer, Friedman acquired the film rights to the 1966 novel The Last Picture Show by Larry McMurtry. The film was nominated for eight Oscars, including the Academy Award for Best Picture. Three years later he scripted and produced Lovin' Molly, also adapted from a McMurtry novel, and followed this with producing credits on Slap Shot (1977), Fast Break (1979), Hero at Large (1980), Little Darlings (1980), The Incubus (1981), and Eye of the Needle (1981).
Friedman's first film produced in conjunction with Kings Road Entertainment was All of Me with Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin. Additional credits at Kings Road include The Best of Times (1986) with Robin Williams and Kurt Russell, The Big Easy (1987, nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Film) with Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin, Jacknife (1989) with Robert De Niro and Ed Harris, and Kickboxer (1989) with Jean Claude Van Damme. His final project was Mother (1996) with Albert Brooks and Debbie Reynolds.
Friedman died of multiple myeloma at home in Brentwood, California at the age of 59.

Negaal is a South African former kickboxer turned promoter who is gearing up to start his own organization in the sport. Prison psychologist Willis Embry reports for work at a New Jersey jail. His day has not gone well - his apartment has just been burgled and his girlfriend left him by placing a message on his answering machine. His group therapy meeting with a bunch of inmates goes no better. Cellmates Lyle and 'Handsome' Harry in particular seem beyond help. In a private meeting later with a cancer-stricken elderly convict named 'Trick', who has only a few weeks to live, Embry is taken into his confidence about a job pulled many years earlier when he and some friends stole some $8.5million of Mafia money from a casino skim bank. As his last request, he says that Embry can have half, and give the other half to a female friend named Louise. He tells Embry to go to Cherry Hill and dig down seven feet in the basement of a house on Pleasant Street, number 7322. Unbeknown to them however, Lyle is listening in the cell next-door, though he fails to hear the house number correctly, putting down 7320 instead.

It is one year after the events of the first film. It is revealed that kickboxing brothers Kurt and Eric Sloane have been killed by Tong Po in Thailand. David Sloane (Mitchell), the youngest and last surviving brother, struggles to keep the family kickboxing gym afloat. Although his will to compete has waned since the loss of his brothers, financial problems eventually force Sloane to fight again in a new organization run by a crooked promoter. His surprising comeback ultimately attracts the attention of Po (Qissi) who, having been defeated by Kurt, seeks to defeat David in the ring and regain his honor. But when Sloane announces his retirement after the bout, Po's manager Sanga (Tagawa) hires a group of thugs to burn down the gym, injuring Sloane and killing one of his young students.

In the late 21st century, an interstellar war between humans (associated as the Bilateral Terran Alliance, or BTA) and Dracs (a Hermaphroditic humanoid race) is fought. Dr. Harry Wolper is an eccentric medical professor teaching at a small southern California college who is obsessed with making a clone of his wife Lucy who died in childbirth 30 years earlier. In a lake at a rock quarry, a young woman named Mandy and her boyfriend, Ray, are swimming.
