Surinder Kapoor (23 December 1925 – 24 September 2011) was an Indian film producer. He produced Bollywood films and also served as President of the Film & Television Producers Guild of India from 1995 to 2001. He was born in Peshawar, British India (in present-day Pakistan). Surinder Kapoor belonged to a minority Hindu family from Peshawar.
He started his film career as a secretary to Bollywood star of the 1960s Geeta Bali. The Dada Saheb Phalke Academy honoured the veteran producer with the L.V. Prasad Phalke Award in 2009.
He died after suffering a cardiac arrest on 24 September 2011.
His three sons, Boney, Anil and Sanjay, are also involved in the film industry. His daughter, Reena, is married to Sandeep Marwah of Marwah Films & Video Studios.

Kishen (Anil Kapoor) has a suspicious-minded wife, Kaajal (Lara Dutta), who thinks he is always having an affair with another woman, even though he is extremely faithful to her and wouldn't dream of betraying her in any way. Prem (Salman Khan) has the opposite situation. He is married to Pooja (Esha Deol), who seems to be very trusting, even though he has been having several affairs with numerous gorgeous women. There is also Kishen's friend Shekhar (Fardeen Khan), who accidentally falls in love with Sanjana (Celina Jaitley) and marries her. Then Bobby (Bipasha Basu), a call girl, enters the story. When Kishen takes pictures of Prem and his girlfriend, and threatens to send them to his wife, Prem hires Bobby to seduce Kishen. The plan is that Kishen will fall in love with her, and Prem wants to see if Kishen can hide the relationship. Then the lies start happening, as Kaajal thinks Bobby is Shekhar's wife, and Sanjana thinks Bobby is Kishen's wife. It becomes a bundle of confusion and comedy when all the various people and couples start meeting.

Dushant (played by Khan), Jaya (Tandon), Sujit (Behl) and Nisha (Nishan) are childhood friends. Dushant aspires to become a successful singer but has little money. Jaya helps him to realize his ambitions. As Dushant achieves success, a rift is created between the two of them. Sujit and Nisha take undue advantage of this to get close to Dushant and create a misunderstanding between him and Jaya. Kamlesh Dhingra (Avtaar Gill), Nisha's father, approaches Dushant for financial assistance for his business venture but is turned down by Rajpal (Kiran Kumar), Dushant's mentor. Dhingra and Sujit plot to amass Dushant's wealth by luring Dushant to marry Nisha and getting rid of Rajpal. Dushant learns of this plot. When Sujit is murdered, Rahul (Amit Kumar), a police officer, comes to investigate the murder. Nisha is also murdered under mysterious circumstances and the climax builds when Dhingra is also killed.

Preeti Vyas (Aishwarya Rai) is a young, vivacious woman. She comes forward as a witness to heinous assault carried by Bhavani Choudhry (Mukesh Rishi) and his men on a person who owes them money. The injured man is helped to the hospital by Preeti and a courteous and brave man called Avinash (Anil Kapoor), who holds strong morals and values. Preeti's testimony angers the Choudhry family and, as a result, Choudhry's younger brother, Babloo Choudhry (Puru Raajkumar), rapes her. Subsequently, she becomes a disgrace to her own family. When Kajal (Sridevi) marries Raaj (Anil Kapoor), an Engineer by profession, she and her dad (Kader Khan), automatically assume that he is rich, wealthy, and corrupt. Kader khan is very happy that his daughter does not have any in-laws, and that she'll get to rule the roost in her new house. But that is not the case. Raaj does not have an air-conditioner, a car, not even a refrigerator. This infuriates Kajal, and in her mind she creates a separate world, where she is rich, wealthy, has several cars, and lives lavishly in a big bungalow. Even the birth of two children (a young son and a little daughter), and several years of marriage, does not change Kajal. An example of this occurs when Kajal meets her old friend Nisha (Poonam Dhillon) who Kajal feeds a pack of lies such that her husband is a business magnate, her family own several cars, live in a big bungalow etc. Nisha who is more wealthy than Kajal then offers to give her a lift home, only for Kajal to have to lie about the directions to her home according to the story she has fabricated. Kajal then realises her mistake when the bungalow she points out as her own turns out to be Nisha's. Nisha explains to Kajal that no matter how much and how little you have, your own house is your own home and that fabricating such stories only adds insult to her husband, family and home. When Janhvi (Urmila Matondkar) Raaj's boss's (Saeed Jaffrey) niece comes from overseas, she meets Raj at the airport and assumes he is the driver. AS she behaves rudely with him, he sends her back home alone, not caring about what his boss would say on that. Jahnvi reaches the office well in time and praises Raj's attitude, but when she learns that he's an engineer working for her uncle's construction company, she apologises to him. Shani uncle introduces her with Vikram Khanna, a handsome young guy, who is his business partner. Vikram observes Jahnvi and likes the young, naturally vivacious girl very much. He almost dreams of marrying her. They both become friends. One day, Vikram and Jahnvi go to sight seeing Jahnvi's guest house, at the new property location. Sahni gets worried as the weather is going from bad to worse but both have not returned till evening. At the other side, as Raj leaves the office to go for the farmhouse, Vikram is seeing asking Jahnvi for marriage casually. But Jahnvi says that she didn't find him special to be her choice. She rejects his advances. Vikram tries to get physical with her but Jahnvi slaps him. Angered at the slap, Vikram throws her down on the bed and forcibly tries to get intimate with her. But Raj arrives in the nick of time and saves Jahnvi. Vikram threatens him with loss of his job but he doesn't care. Jahnvi remembers how earlier Raj had rejected the job n apartment offer from a rival company due to Mr. Sahni's help. She starts liking Raj since the moment and falls in love with him. When she learns that he is a married man whose wife she helped in the electronics store for buying a large music player, she is adamant on getting married to Raj by hook or by crook. After meeting the greedy Kajal inside the city Ganesh temple, Janhvi offers two crore rupees in exchange for marriage to Raaj. And Kajal, seeing this as her opportunity to gain wealth and an easy life, accepts her proposal not knowing that she is making a big mistake and this decision will change her life forever.

Haridwar-based Neelkanth Pandey and Shambhu Nath get their children, Bhagwantiprasad and Parvati respectively, married.
