Timmy Yip, né le 22 décembre 1967 à Hong Kong, est un chef décorateur et costumier chinois.
Biography
Il commence à travailler dans le cinéma dans le département artistique en 1986 sur le film Le Syndicat du crime. Il travaille depuis dans les domaines de la conception de décors et de costumes pour le cinéma et le théâtre. Il remporte en 2001 l'Oscar de la meilleure direction artistique et le British Academy Film Award des meilleurs costumes pour Tigre et Dragon et en 2009 les prix de la meilleure direction artistique et des meilleurs costumes aux Hong Kong Film Awards pour Les Trois Royaumes. Depuis le début des années 2000, il organise de nombreuses expositions dans lesquelles il introduit l'esthétique du « nouvel orientalisme » à travers la photographie, la sculpture et l'installation.Best films

Police detective Huang Huo-tu, a Waisheng ren (Mainland Chinese) in Taiwan, has been relegated to a mundane job as a Foreign Affairs Officer as punishment for blowing the whistle on corruption in the force, and his colleagues have turned their backs on him. The film follows Fei Mu's original fairly closely. The film is set in the Qing Dynasty during the 43rd year (1779) of the reign of the Qianlong Emperor. Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-fat) is an accomplished Wudang swordsman. Long ago, his master was murdered by Jade Fox (Cheng Pei-pei), a woman who sought to learn Wudang skills. Mu Bai is also a good friend of Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh), a female warrior. The story begins with exposition of the difficult lives of the first generation of male Chinese-American immigrants who were not allowed to bring their wives and families with them into the United States due to the Chinese Exclusion Act. For decades, these immigrant men have not seen their families they had left back in China. Ben (Russell Wong) is the son of one these immigrants and has just finished serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. Due to the G.I. Bill, he is allowed to bring a bride back from China which he does after an arranged marriage. Mei Oi (Cora Miao), the bride, besides being attracted to Ben also wants to see her father in the U.S., who emigrated to the States before she was born. As one of the first couples of child-bearing age within Chinatown, Ben and Mei Oi have to deal with the expectations of the entire Chinatown community as well as his father (Victor Wong). But the pressures on Ben render him impotent, and in her confusion over his seeming lack of interest, Mei Oi succumbs to the attentions of Ah Song (Eric Tsang). Their affair creates complications not only for their own marriage, but for the reputations of their fathers in the close-knit "bachelor society" of New York's Chinatown.

The film is set in Henan, China in the winter of 1942, during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Master Fan is a wealthy landlord in a village in Henan.
