Odessa Film Studio (Ukrainian: Одеська кіностудія художніх фільмів) is the first film studio established in Ukraine (Odessa). It is partially owned by a government and supervised by the Department of State property fund of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Culture. Together with Dovzhenko Film Studios they are the only state-owned and major film producers in the country. The studio is located at Frantsuzky bulvar 33 (33 French Boulevard), Odessa, Ukraine. In a close vicinity to it is located a smaller film studio House of Mask.

Deux histoires non liées entre elles si ce n'est par le désespoir qu'elles reflètent s'offrent au spectateur. Une mère de famille à la suite du décès de son mari et un instituteur brisé par les soucis personnels et professionnels se voient plongés dans une profonde dépression. Quelques scènes allégoriques comme celle d'une fourrière avec les chiens hurlant à mort ou du train qui emmène l'homme endormi au bout d'un tunnel noircissent encore le tableau.

Ten complete strangers are invited to spend the weekend in a lonely mansion on an island off the English coast. Once there, they realize that none of them know their unseen host, who has identified himself only as "A. N. Owen." Using a prerecorded gramophone, Mr. Owen accuses them each of past murders that the law was unable to punish, and promises swift retribution. Soon thereafter the first guest dies, the victim of poisoning. The remaining guests come to realize that the killer is murdering them according to the old Ten Little Niggers nursery rhyme. When their attempt to locate Mr. Owen by searching the island proves fruitless, they realize that the unknown assailant is in fact one of them.

Sasha is a former Red Army soldier married to a teacher and attending a university. He also works as a motion picture operator at a local theatre. One winter day he meets a gruffish woman street vendor with a child. Sasha recognizes her to be Lyuba, a former military nurse he worshipped during the war. L'histoire se déroule dans les faubourgs d'Odessa après la révolution russe. Un certain bandit "Tcherven" terrorise la ville. Volodia Patrikeev, fils du professeur et idéaliste à peine sorti de l’adolescence rêve de combattre les ennemis du régime communiste. Il se présente au chef de la milice locale afin d’intégrer le service de répression du banditisme. Mais il est envoyé dans la banlieue démêler les petites affaires sans importance. Il a sous ses ordres un inspecteur du nom de Grichtchenko qui occupe son post depuis longtemps et connait le coin comme sa poche. C'est un homme de terrain et paysan dans l'âme, l'exercice de sa fonction relève de la pure improvisation. Effaré, Patrikeev constate que Grichtchenko rend aux habitants locaux "pour l'usage pour un certain temps" l'alcool saisi dans les distilleries clandestines, non pas pour contourner la loi, mais pour que le produit ne se perd pas. Son autre inspecteur Victor Chestakov est un autodidacte, un homme réservé et courageux. Avec Grichtchenko, le premier jour de leur collaboration, ils se font voler le fourgon vert qui sert pour tous les déplacements de leur brigade. Patrikeev est contraint d'arrêter pour ce vol l'un de ses camarades d'école, un certain "Krasavtchik" qu'il affrontait dans le temps sur le terrain de football et qui à cause de ce détail lui est d'autant plus sympathique. "Krasavtchik" s'évade. En le poursuivant, Patrikeev finira par tomber sur la planque de "Tcherven" et découvrir derrière ce surnom quelqu'un qu'il connaissait depuis longtemps.

Ivan Puhov (A. Abdulov) is in love with a very kind and friendly girl, Alyona (A. Yakovleva). The couple are about to get married when Alyona's jealous and scheming co-worker, Sataneev (V. Gaft), tricks Alyona's boss, Kira Shemahanskaya (Ye. The film is set in post-WWII Moscow.
