Bhagyadevatha (Malayalam : ഭാഗ്യദേവത) (English: The Goddess of Luck) is a 2009 Malayalam film directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. The movie features Jayaram, Kanika, Narain, and Innocent. This movie was mainly shot around the scenic Kuttanad region in Kerala.

Synopsis

The film is about Benny Chacko (Jayaram), a cable operator who dreams about earning wealth and getting rich. His friend (Nedumudi Venu) gives him the idea of getting married so he can use the dowry to fulfill his dreams. Benny marries Daisy (Kanika). To his dismay, he realizes that his father-in-law has not been able to arrange for the dowry, as agreed. This angers Benny but he decides to be patient and wait a few months before taking any further step. Meanwhile he informs Daisy that until the dowry is received, their relationship would remain unconsummated. Three months pass but Daisy's father is unable to give the entire dowry. Benny is angered, and he drops Daisy at her home. He tells her parents that she can return home after the dowry has been arranged for. Daisy and her family are greatly saddened by his behavior but they are unable to say or do anything. Benny's family is equally disappointed but they are helpless as well.

Bhaskaran(Sreenivasan), the local village goldsmith is in love with Snehalatha(Urvashi), the daughter of P.V.Panicker(Innocent), the local astrologer. They are neighbors. Snehalatha asks for a gold necklace made of 10 pavans (sovereigns) as a symbol of Bhaskaran's love. Bhaskaran makes a necklace and hands it over to Snehalatha. An angry Panicker (her father) finds this out, admonishes her and pockets the golden necklace. He reasons that it was "brotherly love" which made Bhaskaran give the necklace to his daughter.

Ramanujan (Jayaram) meets a software engineer named Jyothi (Soundarya) on the train returning to Chennai. She has been engaged to Dr. Pradeep (Sidhique) for many years.
