Synopsis
C'est l'histoire de Elias Alder, un enfant vivant à Eschberg, un hameau de montagne, exceptionnellement sensible à la musique (et à tous les sons de la nature) à la laquelle il se consacre corps et âme sans jamais avoir appris le solfège. Il répare et améliore l'orgue de l'église de son village, aidé par Peter, son seul ami qui en est amoureux. Elias est aussi aimé d'Elsbeth, une fille promise à un autre garçon, mais il ne répond pas à ses avances. Jaloux, un soir de Noël, Peter incendie le village et tous sauf Elias, ses parents et Peter fuient à Feldberg, la ville proche.Actors

In August 1942, a group of German soldiers enjoy leave in Cervo, Liguria, Italy after fighting in North Africa. An awards ceremony is held for several soldiers in the unit, where one platoon's new commander, Leutnant (Lieutenant) Hans von Witzland (Thomas Kretschmann) is introduced. When Unteroffizier (Sergeant) Manfred "Rollo" Rohleder (Jochen Nickel) refuses to button up his collar, his Assault Badge is revoked. Following the assembly, Rohleder, Obergefreiter (Corporal) Fritz Reiser (Dominique Horwitz) and the rest are sent to the Eastern Front to fight for Stalingrad.

Two 12-year-old girls, Charlotte "Charlie" Palfy from Berlin and Louise Kröger from Hamburg, meet on a train going to a language school in Scotland. They are shocked to see how much they look alike. They soon find out they are identical twins. Shortly after their birth, their parents split up, and each of them took one girl. Neither girl knew she had a twin sister, and they both believed their other parent was dead. Though they look alike, they are very different in personality. Charlie, as the daughter of a music hall composer, is cool, self-confident, and somewhat impolite, dresses accordingly, and listens to techno music. Om Prakash Makhija (Shah Rukh Khan) is a junior artist in the 1970s Hindi film industry, in love with film star Shanti Priya (Deepika Padukone). One evening, Om views the premiere of Shanti's film Dream Girl, posing as Manoj Kumar. Later that night, Om becomes drunk and describes his vision of himself as a famous, wealthy film star winning the Filmfare Award for Best Actor to his friend Pappu (Shreyas Talpade) and some local children. At the shooting of a later film, Om rescues Shanti from a fire scene where of the fire has escaped control, and they become friends. One day, after following Shanti, he overhears her and producer Mukesh Mehra's (Arjun Rampal) conversation, that Mukesh and Shanti have married in secret and Shanti is pregnant and expects a traditional wedding. Mukesh pretends to be happy with the news, and invites Shanti at the set of their soon-to-be-made film Om Shanti Om. Mukesh promises to cancel the film, reveal their marriage to the public, and have a grand wedding on the set; but instead traps Shanti on the set and sets it on fire to prevent a financial loss and to protect his career. Shanti tearfully begs Mukesh to release her but he leaves anyway.
