Its plot heavily borrows from the 2006 Hollywood comedy, Accepted.
It stars Jackky Bhagnani, Puja Gupta, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Angad Bedi in the lead roles. Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Akbar Khan and Darshan Jariwala appear in supporting roles. The film released on 1 April 2011, to generally negative reviews from critics, though was a moderate success at the box office.
Synopsis

Suresh Mukund (Varun Dhawan) wants to be a big dancer to fulfill his mother's wish. Vinnie (Shraddha Kapoor) wants to be the best hip-hop dancer. Childhood friends from suburban Nalasopara, Mumbai, they form a team and participate in a national level competition "Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin" where they are disqualified as their moves are copied and everyone calls them cheaters. Everyone departs to search for jobs. Suresh works in a bar as a waiter, Vinnie joins a beauty parlour and Vernon (Sushant Pujari) works as a delivery boy where, time and again, they are insulted as cheaters. The departure of angry teammates adds injury to insult, and nothing is set to be corrected.

Dhamaal is about four friends; Boman Contractor (Aashish Chaudhary), who lives a wealthy lifestyle with his eccentric dad, Nari (Asrani), who loves his antique car more than his son, and asks his son to leave when he damages the car; dim-witted Manav (Jaaved Jaffrey), his elder brother Adi (Arshad Warsi); and Roy (Ritesh Deshmukh), a trickster who wears a magnetized belt buckle. Purushottam Agarwal shifts to London for better standard of living. He wants his grand daughter Nikki to respect Indian culture and marry an Indian man. Story kicks off with two dumb and dumber friends, Shami (Arshad Warsi) a court martialed navy officer and Kedar (Jackky Bhagnani) a Gujarati who has been denied American visa multiple times. Both plans to sail to USA using a boat but with a twist of fate, end up on the beach of Karachi, Pakistan. On realizing the truth they both try to escape, while being chased by an ISI Agent (Lauren Gottlieb). Both get kidnapped by a local don Azher Baluch, who demands ransom from Kedar's father and later releases them in a pathan colony to collect fake passports. But Shami, messes up with a bunch of pathans over an India-Pakistan match. In struggle to escape from pathans both meets a talibani militant, who takes them to a taliban camp were they are misunderstood as talibani militants.
