G for Gold is an upcoming Malayalam movie to be written and directed by
Ranjith starring Mohanlal after the successful movie Spirit. The movie was highlighted for the return of actress Manju Warrier to Malayalam cinema after almost 14 years and also for the combination of Mohanlal and Prithviraj for the first time. But now they are opted out as the characters were not so powerful for them to perform. The shooting of the film will begin from January 10, 2014.

Raghunandan is an ex-Bank of England employee who resigned his lucrative job because he was bored with the rather sedentary and mundane nature of his work. Rock N' Roll tells the story of Chandramouli (Mohanlal), a composer and drummer, of his return to Chennai from South Africa for a brief visit, and of the incidents happening in that short span. Gunasekharan (Siddique), a leading music composer, is busy with his composition for the latest film directed by Lal Jose. He feels, it would be better, if he gets the help of his old friend Chandramouli, who is now busy with his international concerts. But Mouli, a fun loving and jovial musician, makes a surprise landing in Chennai and helps Guna in his work. Mouli accidentally falls in love with Daya Sreenivasan (Lakshmi Rai), the female playback singer, who is also an ardent fan of Mouli. But because of the compulsions from her parents and fiancé, Vivek (Anoop Menon), she moves back to Mumbai. Mouli plots a plan with his friend Thabala Balu (Harisree Ashokan) to bring her back to Chennai. He makes Daya believe that he is now composing a dozen songs for a film and wants Daya to sing it. Daya, who comes back to Chennai, is not impressed by Mouli's tunes. When she openly expresses her unhappiness over the tune, Mouli takes it as a prestige issue and composes a song entirely dedicated to her. However, Daya is unable to attend the studio on that particular date as she is getting married to Vivek, whom she feels is too arrogant and sophisticated for her. Mouli enters the marriage venue and takes Daya to the studio for 30 minutes despite the opposition from her family members. Daya, who within time is fully in love with Mouli, realizes his love for her and opens her mind to him. The film ends with Mouli relaxing at a beach with Daya, but his old habits of carefree nature and passion for girls still not gone.

A casket containing the body of deceased construction worker, Rafeeq (Musthafa), is flown from Dubai to the Calicut International Airport in Kozhikode, then transported by ambulance to its destination. The story begins with the fall of Mangalasherry Neelakantan's (Mohanlal) son Karthikeyan (Mohanlal), as he ventures out to make money which ultimately makes him a liquor baron. The relationship between Neelakantan and Karthikeyan deteriorates, as the father does not approve of his son's money-making methods. Mundakkal Shekharan (Napoleon) comes into the picture again after spending a term in prison for killing one of Neelakantan's friends. He decides to finish the Mangalasherry family by confiscating the house which was kept as collateral for Bhanumathi's (Revathy) treatment. Bhanumathi passes away and Karthikeyan is now bent on taking revenge. Neelakantan loses his home and Karthikeyan ventures out in an attempt to reclaim his ancestral home. In the meantime, Karthikeyan abducts Shekharan's daughter Janaki (Vasundhara Das) in an attempt to blackmail him (Shekharan), during which they fall in love with each other. The remainder of the movie is about how Karthikeyan manages to get his ancestral home back while Shekharan's nephew Mundakkal Rajendran (Vijayaraghavan) makes attempts to kill Karthikeyan, but instead neelakandan gets killed and karthikeyan ventures out to kill Mundackal shekharan.

Balachandran (Mammooty), an accountant with a fertilizer company, is also someone with deep passion for books and literature. He is a bachelor, keeping himself shut from the rest of the world. Residing in a small one room at a lodge in Kochi, Balachandran had also started writing a novel, but could not go forward due to writing block. Shivadasan (Mukesh), a publisher, happens to read the initial parts of the novel, and is much enthusiastic about publishing this work. He persuades Balachandran to complete the work as fast as he could, so that it could be published. Shivadasan is confident about the success of this novel. Balachandran asks Shivadasan to hand over certain amount of money to one girl named Fathima, who is suffering from heart ailment. Though not have ever seen her, Balachandran is financially supporting Fatima for some time and she respects and admires him. One day Balachandran gets a call from Padma (Khushboo Sundar)after long years. She was his girl friend during college days, but couldn't get married due to social and financial difference between the families. She was married to a businessman in Mumbai, and is now separated from him. The arrival of Padma brings a new light into his life. They talk for long time on phone, and shares their feelings. He is then carried back to his old college life. Balachandran, in the meantime completes his novel. Shivadasan is all set to publish this work. Balachandran plans to arrive in Kozhikode, his home town for Fathima's heart surgery. Also he has plans to meet Padma after long years. He, in sudden need of finance to meet the surgery expenses, sell of his land.But that night, Feroz Babu, the owner of his lodge is arrested by police for terror charges. Though, they found no evidence at lodge, and had no proof against him, he is taken to the police station as he is a Muslim. Balachandran reaches the station to enquire about Faisal Babu, and is ill treated by the inspector. He is poked fun for helping a Muslim girl and police blames him of being soft towards terrorists. Balachandran loses control over this and replies back emotionally. The senior officer, who arrives at the spot suddenly decides to release Feroz Babu along with Balachandran. He boards a bus to Kozhikode that night with the cash and his novel in the bag. But the next morning a bomb explodes in the bus and Balachandran is one among those who were killed.
