Vasundhara Das is an Indian singer, actress, composer, entrepreneur, speaker, songwriter and environmental activist. Vasundhara's films include Hey Ram (Tamil / Hindi)), Monsoon Wedding (English), Citizen (Tamil/Telugu), Ravana Prabhu (Malayalam), Lankesh Patrike (Kannada) and several others. Vasundhara has worked with composers such as A. R. Rahman, Vishal-Shekhar, Pritam and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy to name a few. Vasundhara's current focus is on music composition at her Bangalore based studio called THE ACTIVE. She has also been involved in several independent projects such as Channel V Jammin', BBC's HIV awareness anthem for India 'Har Kadam', Mission Ustaad, Arya, Global Rhythms, Nylon Soundz and most recently, The Shah Hussain Project, a collaborative album with Sufi singer Mir Mukhtiyar Ali.

Biography

Vasundhara Das was born into a Tamil speaking Hebbar Iyengar Brahmin family in Bangalore. She studied at Cluny Convent High School, Bangalore, Sri Vidya Mandir, Bangalore and Mount Carmel College, Bangalore, graduating in Economics, Statistics and Mathematics. She began training in Hindustani classical music under her grandmother Indira Das and later trained under Lalita Kaikini and Pandit Parameshwar Hegde
In her college days, she was a lead singer of a girl band and soprano in the college choir. In an interview, she states that-"I got booed off the first time I sang on stage". She is multilingual and speaks Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Spanish and English. Vasundhara married her long-time friend, Roberto Narain, a drummer.

A district collector, a judge, and a police official are all kidnapped in broad daylight. The kidnapper cocking-a-snook at the establishment, calling himself 'Citizen' and appearing in different disguises to get at his targets. C.B.I. officer Sarojini (Nagma) finally traces the common factor among the kidnapped trio to the fictional hamlet of Athippatti, consisting of fishermen. But to her surprise both the village and its 690 odd inhabitants seemed to have been wiped away from the face of the official gazette maps. The diggings tell a story of a mass massacre that must have taken place about a couple of decades back. 'Citizen' is finally apprehended. He comes out with his story of the gory happenings at Athippatti and how he, as a little boy, had been the sole survivor of the nightmare that gripped the village that day from the map of India, twenty years back. The entire village was wiped off including women and children by the three kidnapped officials because of their greed for power and money. Ajith wants the citizenship of the three government officials revoked including their families as a punishment for their atrocities to the inhabitants of Athippatti.

The story begins with the fall of Mangalasherry Neelakantan's (Mohanlal) son Karthikeyan (Mohanlal), as he ventures out to make money which ultimately makes him a liquor baron. The relationship between Neelakantan and Karthikeyan deteriorates, as the father does not approve of his son's money-making methods. Mundakkal Shekharan (Napoleon) comes into the picture again after spending a term in prison for killing one of Neelakantan's friends. He decides to finish the Mangalasherry family by confiscating the house which was kept as collateral for Bhanumathi's (Revathy) treatment. Bhanumathi passes away and Karthikeyan is now bent on taking revenge. Neelakantan loses his home and Karthikeyan ventures out in an attempt to reclaim his ancestral home. In the meantime, Karthikeyan abducts Shekharan's daughter Janaki (Vasundhara Das) in an attempt to blackmail him (Shekharan), during which they fall in love with each other. The remainder of the movie is about how Karthikeyan manages to get his ancestral home back while Shekharan's nephew Mundakkal Rajendran (Vijayaraghavan) makes attempts to kill Karthikeyan, but instead neelakandan gets killed and karthikeyan ventures out to kill Mundackal shekharan.

Saawan... The Love Season tells the story of a couple, Raj (Kapil Jhaveri) and Kajal (Saloni Aswani). They get married, and when they come back from their Honeymoon in Patiala, Kajal finds a man who predicts the future (Salman Khan). Whether it's the death of a person at 9 p.m. or a major accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the man knows it all. He's a modern-day Nostradamus. When Kajal asks him about her future, he tells her she'd die two days later. Obviously, Kajal is shattered, she tells Raj who swears if anything happens to her, he would kill the Nostradamus. On the fateful day, Kajal is mistakenly shot by the cops outside a shopping mall and dies. Raj blames the Nostradamus for it, breaks into his house, bashes him black and blue and Nostradamus dies. When Nostradamus dies, Kajal, who is already pronounced dead, wakes up. She's alive now. She falls in love with Raj all over again, and with the help of Raj's friend Funsukh (Johny Lever) and his admirer, they get the couple re-married and they live happily ever after.
