Synopsis
Une jeune femme a des doutes sur la fidélité de son mari. Elle prétexte un voyage, mais s'installe dans un hôtel où son époux doit passer. Celui-ci la rencontre et, troublé par celle qu'il croit être le sosie de sa femme, devient son amant. Peu à peu la vérité perce. Le mari prend congé de la maîtresse et revient à l'épouse dont le retour a été annoncé.Actors

Bob Wellington, beau soldat américain en permission à Paris, apprécie le Jazz et surtout le Music-hall. Souhaitant en faire son métier, il demande à ses amis Jeff et Joe de l'accompagner aux Folies-Bergère. Il tombe sous le charme de la belle danseuse et chanteuse Claudie. Il entreprend alors de rester à Paris et d'apprendre le français. Ils se marient et elle accepte de travailler avec lui. Colérique et d'un tempérament brutal, il est viré du music-hall parisien. Il tente une tournée en province qui échoue lamentablement. Retrouvant Claudie qui commence à connaître la gloire, il devient jaloux. Pour la provoquer, il séduit la jolie tête d'affiche Suzy Morgan mais la déception le gagne. Son ami Jeff et le régisseur Roger parviennent à lever les quiproquos. Claudie retrouve alors l'amour de son bienaimé.

Johnny Brett (Fred Astaire) and King Shaw (George Murphy) are a dance team so down on their luck they're working in a dance hall for no money. Meanwhile, Clare Bennett (Eleanor Powell) is a big Broadway star. Owing to a case of mistaken identity, Shaw is offered the chance to be Clare's dancing partner in a new Broadway show, while it was really Johnny's dancing that producer Bob Casey (Frank Morgan) saw and wanted. The partnership breaks up, but Johnny sticks around to help out Shaw, who lets his newfound success go to his head. Clare eventually realizes that Johnny, and not Shaw, is the better dancer, and she falls in love after having lunch with him. When Shaw gets drunk on opening night, Johnny steps in and saves the show with a brilliant performance, though he lets King think he did it himself. Clare later tells Shaw the truth. Just before the next show, Clare discovers Shaw drunk and Johnny becomes the permanent replacement. After the show, they find out that King was pretending to be drunk so that Johnny would get the job.

Arrive Martha, une actrice, la fiancée d'Andreas. Andreas et Jenny s'enfuient à Hydra. Martha les suit et révèle la vérité à Jenny. Rien n'y fait. Jenny reste avec Andreas. Martha se console avec Paul, le réalisateur du film dont elle est la vedette. Rena obtient les fonds pour son frère et cède aux avances de Jim Pappas.

Maria is a free-spirited young Austrian woman studying to become a nun at Nonnberg Abbey in Salzburg in 1938. Harry Van (Clark Gable), an American World War I veteran, tries to reenter show biz and ends up in a faltering mentalist show with an inept, aging alcoholic, Madame Zuleika (Laura Hope Crews, who also appeared in Gone with the Wind as Aunt Pittypat). While giving performances in Omaha, he is courted by Irene (Norma Shearer), a trapeze artist, who claims to come from Russia and hopes both to replace Harry's drunken partner in the show and be his lover. They have a romantic night, but he is suspicious of Irene's overstated flights of fancy. Harry, keeping Zuleika, and Irene's troupe board trains going in the opposite directions the next day.
