Katha is a 2009 Telugu-language thriller film directed by Srinivas Raga. The film stars Genelia D'Souza in the lead and is produced by Urmila Gunnam.
Synopsis
Chitra (Genelia) is a loner who comes to Araku seeking employment as a school teacher. Krishna (Arun) is an aspiring director who comes to Araku for a test shoot and to complete the script of his debut film. Circle Inspector (Prakash Raj) has a wife & young kids. Chitra spent an year in a mental asylum because she witnessed her family being murdered. Chitra & Krishna become friends. While Chitra is looking through her binoculars, she witnesses a murder where she can clearly see the victim's face. Chitra reports the incident to the police, but they find no evidence of the crime. Chitra suspects that her past mental condition is relapsing. Eventually, the police finds out that the female victim did, in fact, exist. They have a CD that shows Circle Inspector & the female victim together in a store. The victim is none other than the Circle Inspector's dead girlfriend's daughter. He cannot acknowledge their illegitimate relation without tainting his reputation. It is revealed that he lured his daughter to Araku to kill her. Although Chitra witnessed the murder, the Circle Inspector tried to make it look like a figment of Chitra's imagination, and is infuriated when Chitra refuses to believe that the murder was her hallucination. Chitra & Krishna try to take the disc & escape, but Circle Inspector tries to kill Krishna, whose foot is injured by Krishna. Circle Inspector's holds Krishna at gunpoint, but Chitra refuses to give the disc to him. She slaps the Circle Inspector, who decides to let go of Krishna and commits suicide. Chitra says that she didn't think that Circle Inspector was going to kill her & Krishna because he already framed a dead officer for the victim's murder. Chitra & Krishna take the disc as evidence to the police. The film ends with the union of Chitra & Krishna.Actors

Dharmayya Naidu (Vijaya Kumar) is an underworld kingpin who lost his wife because he is uneducated. Hence he wants to felicitate education in his seema area by constructing schools. He realizes that the quarry he owns has good quality granite deposits. Samba (NTR) is the son of Dharmayya Naidu. Prakash (Prakash Raj) is the son-in-law of Dharmayya Naidu. Prakash plays the game in such a way that Dharmayya Naidu is forced to give granite quarry as a dowry to Prakash's family, due to which Dharmayya Naidu's daughter commits suicide. When Samba comes to know the reason behind his sister's suicide, he occupies the quarry and kills the brothers of Prakash. Prakash kills everybody in the house of Samba in retaliation.

Seenu (Ram) enjoys fights right from his childhood. He appreciates violence. He wants to be like Manikyam (Pradeep Rawat), who was a goonda, as everyone, including his teacher, is afraid of him. The film begins with a baby taking his first steps on a beach supported by his father. The narrator (Murali Mohan) states that, it is right for a father to support his child in his infancy, but questions whether the father should continue to hold the child's hand even after he is 24 years old. The film was loosely based on the Ramayana. Venkat (Prabhas) and Sailaja (Trisha) are youngsters who first meet on a train during a rain shower. Venkat keeps bumping into Sailaja coincidentally every time it rains. This makes them both feel that it is perhaps the rain that keeps bringing them together, and they start to fall in love. Venkat is mesmerized by Sailaja's beauty, charisma, and childlike behavior. Sailaja, also, is impressed by Venkat. Due to unfortunate circumstances the two are drawn apart. At the same time that the two meet, Sailaja catches the eye of antagonist Bhadranna (Gopichand) who also becomes infatuated with Sailaja. Venkat and Sailaja meet in Warangal again and believe that they are meant for each other because it rains every time they meet. Ranga Rao (Prakash Raj), Sailaja's dad, is a typical black sheep with all kinds of bad habits. In the process, he is ready to marry off his daughter to Bhadranna for money. Ranga Rao plants certain ego problems in the minds of Venkat and Sailaja in order to break them up. This causes Venkat to leave Warangal for Vizag. And Sailaja prepares to become an actress (her father convinces her). Later on, Bhadranna kidnaps Sailaja. The rest of the story is about how Venkat rescues Sailaja from the bastion of Bhadranna and how he clears up the misunderstanding with Sailaja in the process.

Sameer Behl (Shahid Kapoor) comes to Mumbai with Bollywood dreams, struggles through the day as a courier boy and keeps failing in auditions for advertisements. More stereotypes are stuffed in as he refuses to take help from his dad in Delhi, is thrown out from his rented flat by the landlord and comes away with his calculative companion. One day, a movie director, Rajeev Sharma, (Mohnish Behl) sees Sameer dancing and calls him to his office. Soon Sameer is signed as the male lead in his film and friend Tina (Genelia D'Souza) is selected as the choreographer on the same project. Homeless, Sameer sleeps in his car and works as a dance teacher in a school. Subsequently, Sameer loses his film and is disillusioned. Tina finds this out and asks him how he can spend his life like this. After some time, Tina tells him that she also quit the film and did not want to be the choreographer for that film because she saw him upset. Sameer realised the love Tina had for him. Tina encourages him to participate in a television talent-hunt show, the winner of which will win the same role that Sameer was to play. After some time he agrees to participate in it. After filling up the contest form, he also says "I love you" to Tina. In his screen-test, Sameer dedicates his monologue to his mother. After his monologue, during the interview, he comes to know that his father's shop in Delhi has been demolished. He promises Tina that he will come back for her and leaves. He leaves Mumbai to meet his father, heart-broken about the whole thing. After watching Sameer's performance in the TV, his father convinces him to go back to Mumbai and participate in the show.
