Kya Yehi Pyar Hai (English: Is This Love) is a 2002 Indian romantic film starring Jackie Shroff, Aftab Shivdasani and Amisha Patel in lead roles and directed by K. Murali Mohan Rao. It is a remake of the 1997 Tamil film, Love Today.
Synopsis
Rahul Tiwari (Aftab Shivdasani) is in love with Sandhya Patil (Amisha Patel) — and has been for the last four years — and he has not had the courage to tell her. He follows her everywhere, waits until the public bus she uses, and then boards it. Sandhya is not even aware of Rahul, leave alone his affection for her. One day Rahul finds out where Sandhya lives, and he finds out that her father is police inspector Raj Patil "Raja" (Ashish Vidyarthi), a cruel, sadistic, drunk, and abusive man, whose wife Rachna (Neena Kulkarni) and daughter live in fear, even when he is not around. Raj Patil has no respect for any human being, his superiors, his subordinates, nor members of the public to whom he is sworn to protect. When Raj finds out that Rahul is trying to enter the life of his daughter, he arrests him publicly, beats him up, and locks him in a cell in his police station.Actors

Mr. Raj K. Saxena (Kader Khan) is known for his parsimony. Everything he does and thinks is valued with money, and ways he can accumulate it. His daughter, Kiran (Ameesha Patel), is the opposite, a spendthrift. Mr. Saxena borrows money from elderly people, assuring them of returning the loan with a handsome rate of interest after about 20 years, knowing fully well that none of them will survive 20 years. Then he meets with the son of one of such lender, aptly named after him viz. Raj K. Saxena (Aftab). Mr. Saxena refuses to repay the amount, swallows the proof, the only evidence, and asks Raj to get out, which he does so. Raj is determined to get his money, and wants Kiran to fall in love with him. Kiran does so, and brings him over to introduce him to her shocked and speechless dad. Things change when Raj inherits a large amount of money, ironically left by Mr. Saxena maternal grandmother, and it is Mr. Saxena who is now anxious to get in the good books of Raj, with hilarious results.

Twenty years ago Angar Chand (Amrish Puri) lived a wealthy lifestyle in a small town in India along with his wife, Parvati, and four sons, Balram (Jackie Shroff), Kishan (Paresh Rawal), Shakti (Arbaaz Khan) and Jai (Akshaye Khanna). Since Balram is of marriageable age, he arranges his marriage with the daughter of Laxmi Devi (Laxmi), who opposes this marriage. During the wedding ceremony, Laxmi Devi and her sons, Surajbhan, and Pratap forcibly take away their sister and accidentally kill Parvati. They subsequently get their sister married to Kashinath (Shakti Kapoor). An enraged Angar hacks Laxmi's husband to death, is arrested and sentenced to 14 years in prison. When he returns he makes it clear that women will not be permitted in his house, posting a sign on the front gate, and forbids his sons to ever marry.
