Live Hard is a 1989 Hong Kong action film directed by Yuen Cheung-yan and starring Simon Yam, Elaine Lui and Lau Ching-wan. There are two versions of the film, which are the original Hong Kong version released in Asia and an international version released outside of Asia which include western actors such as Mark Houghton and Steve Tartalia.

Synopsis

In Hong Kong, terrorists from Libya blow up a bus which kills the son of the American consul. The Hong Kong Police Force sends Lui Yung and his team of special agents to investigate the case and destroy the terrorist group. On the other hand, Senior Inspector Hui Tat-ming (Simon Yam) of the Regional Crime Unit is discontented by the fact that he is no longer in charge of the case since it has been transferred to the Politics Department. However, Hui secretly investigates alone to track down the terrorists and bring them to justice.

Chan Yiu-hing (Simon Yam) possess adept driving skills and works as a car jockey alongside his friends Hung (Wan Yeung-ming), Chung (Roy Cheung) and Dee (Lau Ching-wan). During the early 1970s, the ICAC has not been established in Hong Kong yet and the city was swamped with corruption and widespread poverty. Police sergeant Wong Yat-chung (Ti Lung) is very upright and justice and refuses to partake with his corrupt colleagues and thus, he is marginalized from everyone else at the police station. After investigating, Wong discovers that Mok was forced to shoot him earlier. A nameless hitwoman (Jacklyn Wu) who, for reasons not entirely clear, has a lower than average body temperature.
