David Chiang est un acteur né en 1947, ayant joué dans des films hong-kongais.

Biography

Il est né à Suzhou en Chine, il est le second fils d'un couple d'acteurs célèbres, Yim Dut et Hong Wei.

Après le décès de son père, sa mère se remarie avec un producteur de cinéma et donne naissance à un troisième fils.
Les 3 enfants auront chacun une grande carrière cinématographique sous les noms de Paul Chun, David Chiang et Derek Yee.

Très jeune, David Chiang joue de petits rôles dans les films produits par son beau-père (The call of the nightbirds, Little angel of the street, Young vagabond).

Parallèlement, il suit des cours à l'Opéra de Pékin. Sans atteindre le niveau d'un Jackie Chan ou d'un Sammo Hung, cette formation lui permet d'acquérir une grande agilité et une solide constitution physique.

Il devient cascadeur puis instructeur de scènes de combats dans de petites productions cinématographiques. Très vite, il est remarqué par la Shaw Brothers qui l'intègre dans ses studios en 1966 en tant qu'acteur.

Il fait ainsi quelques apparitions dans Le Retour de l'hirondelle d'or (1968), The invincible fist (1969), jusqu'à obtenir un rôle majeur dans Dead end (1969). Après ce film, il enchaîne les succès et sa rencontre avec l'acteur Ti Lung, partenaire dans de nombreuses productions, fera d'eux le « Deadly Duo » du cinéma d'art martial hong-kongais des années 1970.
Le monde du cinéma et du wu-xia pian se souvient de lui comme du héros éponyme dans le troisième épisode de la trilogie du Sabreur Manchot, La Rage du tigre.
On le voit aussi au début des années 1980 jouer dans des films policiers comme Iron Angels en 1987 ou aux côtés de Jackie Chan comme cameo dans Double Dragon.

The movie begins as the two-year term expires, and all the elders of the Wo Shing society are in the process of electing a new chairman, with some last-minute "campaigning" from both Lok, and Big D a few days prior to the election. Lok is shown to be calm, patient and even-tempered, while Big D, who attempts to buy the election, is boisterous, impatient and quick tempered. After bitter arguments from supporters of both candidates in the likes of Uncle Cocky and Uncle Monk, Lok is elected as the new chairman. However, Big D is dismayed by the result and proceeds to punish two men responsible for his loss by kidnapping them and rolling them down a hill in boxes, prompting ex-chairman Whistle to ask his lieutenant Four-Eye to hide the dragon head baton, which is a symbol of power for the leader.

The two start off as friends, but after a series of fateful events occur, feelings spark, and they eventually begin seeing one another, in spite of the controversy that it creates. Then abruptly, Bond is kicked off the Kong Ching team, regarding with his coach's financial troubles, which angers him and believes that his chance in entering the competition is gone. Soon after, he is confronted by an unexpected new trainer Bill (Max Mok Siu Chung), a washed-up but well experienced former martial arts champion. After some compensation, Bill teaches Bond Chinese Kung Fu (Wing Chun, Hong Kuen) as alternative and effective fighting techniques to his kick boxing. Regained confidence, Bond then decides to enter the competition on his own, with Bill as his advisor and cornerman and they become the team Fusion Tao. The event draws entries of 18 boxing organizations from 12 countries, along with its most lethal fighter Tank Wong (Andy On) from Soul Boxing Gym team. As his relationship with Kim becomes stable, Kim's former lover sees her again, asking for forgiveness, saying that he still loves her. With her feelings torn, she decides to go back to Korea with him, but is still having second thoughts about her feelings for Bond. In the competition however, competitors are slowly eliminated one by one, as the epic fight between Bond and Tank draws closer and what will determine both fighters' destiny.

In Cambodia 1975, the eight-year-old Wai Lok-yan witnessed the tragedy of his parents being killed by Ray Lui (Paul Chun) while hiding in the closet with his younger sister. The film is set in China in 1895 during the Qing dynasty. Wong Fei-hung travels by train from Foshan to Guangzhou to attend a seminar on medicine. He is accompanied by his romantic interest 13th Aunt and apprentice Leung Foon. The situation in Guangzhou is rather chaotic. On one hand, there are protests in the streets against the signing of the Treaty of Shimonoseki. On the other hand, the White Lotus Sect, an extreme xenophobic cult, goes around attacking Westerners and destroying everything regarded as alien to Chinese culture. At one point, 13th Aunt is almost captured by the cult when she tries to take a photo of them, but Wong shows up, fights with the cult members, and saves her.
