Synopsis
Sur l'île de Saaremaa, en Estonie. Kertu, 30 ans, vit chez ses parents sous l'emprise d'un père despotique et est considérée comme simplette. Lors d'une fête de village, elle fait la connaissance de Villu, un homme réputé alcoolique et coureur. Une improbable idylle se noue entre ces deux personnages, malgré l'opposition de l'entourage de Kertu.Actors

The Estonian teenager Joosep (Pärt Uusberg) is being bullied by his entire high school class, the ring leader of them all is Anders (Lauri Pedaja), his accomplice Paul (Mikk Mägi) and three other friends Toomas (Joonas Paas), Tiit (Virgo Ernits) and Olav (Karl Sakrits). Anders encourages the class to continually beat up Joosep, and harass him in other ways as well, such as fully undressing him and then pushing him in the girls' changing room. His classmate Kaspar tries to protect him and breaks from the group, which results in the violence being directed to him as well. Also, in a homophobic atmosphere Joseph and Kaspar are ridiculed for supposedly having gay feelings for each other. Nevertheless, when the school administration and Joosep's parents try to find out who is to blame for the treatment Joosep has been receiving, the class unanimously but falsely accuses Kaspar of mistreating him.

Le film raconte l'histoire contemporaine d'Ania, une orpheline passée par une institution de Saint-Pétersbourg, sortie élève émérite et récemment devenue maître de conférence en littérature. Elle a un aspect très juvénile et il est difficile de lui donner un âge précis. Elle a pour amant un homme marié bien plus âgé qui pourrait passer pour son père. Anne vit en Estonie, où elle s’occupe de sa mère. Lorsque celle-ci meurt on lui propose de devenir l'auxiliaire de vie de Frida, une riche Parisienne. Malgré sa réticence, elle accepte et s’en va. Georgia O'Keeffe (Joan Allen) is a young painter in the 1910s, while Alfred Stieglitz (Jeremy Irons) is New York-based photographer and art impresario, who discovers her works.
