The film is written and directed by Faisal Saif and produced by Mrs. Saroj under the banner of Varsha Production House. The film marks Bollywood début of South Indian actor Adithya Menon.
The film was initially supposed to release in the year 2014, but faced huge opposition and controversy when South-Indian actor Rajinikanth approached Madras High Court to stop the film's release based upon the use of his name in the film's title. Business of Cinema categorized the film as Top 10 banned films of Bollywood along with movies such as Bandit Queen, Black Friday, Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love and Kissa Kursi Ka.
After a long-running court battle, filmmaker Faisal Saif finally changed the title of the film falling under producer's pressure and it was released on 22 May 2015 across North India. However, in South India it was not released to avoid any further legal disputes.
Upon its release, Box Office Collection praised Saif for his work and approach and stated the film is better than Rajinikanth's disaster Lingaa.

Some sources by the press say it is a story from Kashmir to Afghanistan to World Trade Center. Filmmaker Faisal Saif has signed a secret contract with every cast member and technician of the film to not reveal the plot to anyone. It was recorded that three Indian actors who were considered to play the title part received threats from unknown organisations. Based on actual events, the film tells the story of an innocent girl named Jigyaasa Mathur (Hrishitaa Bhatt) who comes from a middle-class family, the daughter of a schoolteacher named Malini Mathur (Varsha Usgaonkar). Malini is a woman with principles and emotions. Jigyaasa wants to become a film actress and her mother has no objections about it. But Jigyaasa has some other plans. He says if she cannot live without her 15-days-old child then why did she want to separate his mother from her child. She realises her mistake.
