Add to a movie listLe Miracle des loups (English: The Miracle of the Wolves) is a French historical drama film from 1924, directed by Raymond Bernard, written by André-Paul Antoine, starring Jean-Emile Vanni-Marcoux. The scenario was based on a novel of Henry Dupuis-Mazuel "Le miracle des loups", published in 1924.
Numerous scenes were filmed at the Cité de Carcassonne with thousands of participants. It was also filmed in Château de Pierrefonds, Col de Porte, Isère, Le Sappey-en-Chartreuse, and in studio.
Raymond Bernard was a director, screenwriter, and actor. It was a debut for Marie Glory (uncredited).
Synopsis
The narrative takes place in the 15th century, when Louis XI was at odds with Charles of Burgundy. The king's forces are attacked by the Burgundian troops and Beauvais must be defended until reinforcements can arrive. The defence of the city is led by Jeanne Hachette. There are realistic scenes in which wolves attack some of the opponents of Louis XI.Actors

In 1776, a young Polish patriot, Boleslas Vorowski, is wounded in an abortive uprising against the Russian forces in Vilnius. A reward for his capture is offered but he is sheltered by Baron von Kempelen, an inventor of lifelike automata, who plans to smuggle Vorowski, a skilful chess-player, to Germany concealed inside a chess-playing automaton called The Turk. Major Nicolaïeff, a Russian rival of Vorowski, challenges The Turk to a game and is defeated, but he realises that the machine is being secretly operated by Vorowski. He arranges for The Turk to be sent to Moscow to entertain the Empress Catherine II. When The Turk refuses to allow Catherine to cheat, the Empress orders that the automaton is to be executed by firing squad at dawn. During a masked ball, von Kempelen replaces Vorowski inside The Turk, to enable him to escape with his lover Sophie. Nicolaïeff, who has been sent to search von Kempelen's house, is slain by the inventor's sabre-wielding automata.

Véra Vronsky forme avec Paulo et Désormeaux un trio d'escrocs agissant dans les hôtels de luxe. Le mode opératoire est sensiblement toujours le même, Véra joue les séductrices, et se plaint qu'on ne veuille pas lui reprendre à sa juste valeur un bijou très cher qu'elle montre à sa victime. L'homme se propose alors de mener à bien la transaction, et empoche le bijou que Paulo remplacera par une copie. La victime ne voulant pas perdre la face donnera le lendemain à Véra le montant de la valeur du vrai bijou... Un jour Véra tombe réellement amoureuse de Pierre, l'une de ses victimes. Le trio se sépare, mais les deux escrocs peinent à retrouver une remplaçante de la valeur de Véra. Véra de son côté s'est mariée avec Pierre. Désormeaux et Paulo la retrouvent par hasard, ils s'invitent à une réception donnée par le couple, trouvent le moyen de voler tous les bijoux des invités et s'enfuient. Véra et Pierre tentent de les poursuivre mais tombent en panne, alors, effondrée, Véra avoue à Pierre son passé. Quand le lendemain matin le couple regagne la propriété, ils ont la surprise de voir Paulo redistribuer les bijoux aux invités. En effet Paulo par amitié pour Véra a trahi son complice. Mais il le rejoindra malgré tout sur un bateau en partance pour les États-Unis, non sans avoir chapardé le portefeuille de Pierre.
