Miss Bala, ou Miss Balle au Québec, est un thriller d'action américano-mexicain réalisé par Catherine Hardwicke et sorti en 2019.
C'est un remake du film mexicain du même titre, réalisé par Gerardo Naranjo en 2011, lui même librement inspiré d'un fait réel concernant une ancienne miss, Laura Zúñiga, et son implication dans un trafic de drogue en 2008.
Bien que la performance de Gina Rodriguez ait reçu des critiques positives, le film en lui-même a reçu un accueil négatif de la part de la presse. Au box-office, il réussit à récolter assez pour rembourser son budget mais engendre extrêmement peu de bénéfices supplémentaires, faisant de lui un échec financier.
Synopsis
Gloria Fuentes, une maquilleuse faisant carrière à Los Angeles, rend visite à sa meilleure amie Suzu à Tijuana au Mexique pour l'aider à se préparer pour le concours de beauté Miss Baja California. C'est un grand pas pour Gloria qui refusait d'y retourner depuis la mort de ses parents.Actors

In New York City, Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington) checks in to the Roosevelt Hotel under the false name of Walker, goes to his hotel room on the 21st floor, and climbs on the ledge, apparently ready to commit suicide. The crowd below calls the police, with Dante Marcus (Titus Welliver) controlling the crowd, while Jack Dougherty (Edward Burns) tries to talk with Nick. However, Nick will only speak to negotiator Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks), who is on a leave of absence, after failing to save a suicidal policeman. Lydia arrives at the hotel room and manages to acquire Nick's fingerprints from a cigarette they share. Dougherty has them analyzed and discovers that Nick is an ex-policeman, arrested for stealing the $40 million Monarch diamond from businessman David Englander (Ed Harris). Nick was given a 25-year sentence but escaped from the Sing Sing Correctional Facility one month earlier, after being allowed to attend his father's funeral. Nick, however, maintains his innocence and accuses Englander of framing him for the theft of the diamond, as Englander lost his fortune and was too proud to sell the diamond.

In 1949 Los Angeles, gangster Mickey Cohen wants to control all organized crime and argues with local mobster Jack Dragna that they should not allow the East coast mafia to run the town. Meanwhile, LAPD Detective Sergeant John "Sarge" O'Mara raids a Cohen-owned brothel to save a woman from being raped, gaining the attention of Police Chief Bill Parker. Parker believes that more drastic measures need to be taken against men like Cohen, and tasks O'Mara to begin waging a guerrilla campaign against the mobsters. Ty Hackett (Columbus Short), an armed service veteran, is now an employee of Eagle Shield security, as a member of one of their many armored car transport teams. Now the legal guardian of younger brother Jimmy (Andre Kinney), the Silver Star recipient struggles to make ends meet. In a bar after an armored car prank heist played on Ty, his co-workers recount several historical attacks on armored cars. It is explained that Ashcroft (Fred Ward), their immediate supervisor, was once involved in an ambush, becoming the only survivor as he single-handedly killed five assailants. This story was topped by "a better" one of an armored car jacking in '88, wherein the guards surrendered the funds they were escorting in order to prevent the killing of a fellow guard; it concluded in the safety of all the guards and escape of the hijackers. The thieves were never caught, and the crew speculates that the escort team staged the attack.

A kidnapping goes down in 1934 Kansas City. The story takes place on a Saturday in Anderson, a crime-infested ghetto in South Central Los Angeles.
