Mohabbath is a 2011 Malayalam–language musical romance film directed and produced by East Coast Vijayan. It stars Meera Jasmine, Munna and Anand Michael in the lead roles. Written by Siddique Shameer based on his own novel Kalippavakal, the film features music by S. Balakrishnan, who makes his comeback through this film. Renowned singer Hariharan appears as himself in a song sequence while Roma does a cameo role.

The film concerns a love triangle between characters played by Meera Jasmine, Anand Michael and Munna. It reached theatres on 28 April.

Synopsis

Anwar (Anand Michael) is a final year medical student in Bangalore and Sajna (Meera Jasmine) studies in a local professional college. They are cousins and their marriage had been fixed in childhood. Sajna's college-mate Ameer (Munna) falls in love with her. Sajna tries to explain her situation about being engaged and even insults him for being poor but in vain. The film takes unexpected turn in between. Sajna's family becomes poor and Ameer has a windfall. Sajna's wedding is cancelled and Ameer comes in as saviour and revives his proposal through proper channels. The film has an unexpected cilmax with Anwar returns to their lives.

The film's protagonist is Rahulan who loves three different women in different stages of his life. Sachidanandan (Dileep) runs an antique shop in the Jewish street at Kochi. He is famous for old Gramophone records. Inba (Madhavan) grew up to be a goon, as his brother had left him to fend for himself and he had no option of earning. He loves, marries, and abuses his wife, Sashi (Meera Jasmine). Michael is in love with his neighbour Geetha (Esha Deol) who lives with her parents. And then there is Arjun Balakrishnan (Siddharth), carefree and spoiled son of an IAS officer. He wants to relocate to the U.S. for a better future. He falls in love with Meera (Trisha Krishnan), whom he just met. One day, Meera and Arjun get into a quarrel on the road and Meera gets into an auto. Arjun hitches a ride from Michael, who is riding in the same direction, to catch up with Meera. Suddenly, Michael is shot but Arjun saves him. After talking to Michael, Arjun changes his mind and wants to be a politician. Selvanayagam is worried when he hears news of students standing in the election. He uses every possible resource to get them out of Politics. Firstly he provides scholarship to study at a prestigious foreign university to Michael. When Michael refuses the bribe, he orders his goon Inba to take control. Inba beats some students but faces very strong retaliation from Michael and other students. He kidnaps Arjun and other candidates. However, they manage to escape with the help of Inba's ally, Dilli (Sriman). Inba follows Arjun and beats him up. While running, Arjun manages to call Michael for help. He comes to rescue Arjun at Napier Bridge. Then Inba is handed to the police. Michael wins the four seats he and his college mates have contested for. Sashi leaves for her hometown while Inba remains in prison hoping not to get the capital punishment. Michael, Arjun and two friends enter into politics.

Kuttan Thampuran (Manoj K Jayan) is the son of Subhadra Thampurati and Kochanyian Thampuran of the Maangaattu kovilkkam. Kuttan has suffered from epilepsy from childhood and is rough and violent in his character and is feared by all in the village. Haridas (Vineeth) is his classmate despite being two years younger and develops a special bond with Thampuran from childhood. Kalabha Mazha tells the friendly relationship between a Hindu and a Muslim family. Madhava Menon (Thilakan) who worked in the All India Radio always respects other religions and works for the upliftment of the society. Malavika (Devika) is the eldest daughter of Madhava Menon. Malavika's sister, falls for a film director, and soon realizes that her decision was wrong. Her brother on the other hand, takes up a job at a local bank, and finds himself having transformed into a goon. Later, Malavika bumps into her sister's absconding lover, and almost meets with the same fate in his hands.
