Starring Anil Kapoor, Sri Devi played the lead roles, Nagarjuna in cameo appearance and music composed by Anand Milind. It is the remake of 1994 Tamil film Veetla Visheshanga (There is a ceremony at home) directed by K. Bhagyaraj playing the lead role by himself. The film recorded as flop at the box-office, despite decent reviews. However, it has gained some popularity over the years through television runs.
Synopsis
Anand Verma, a widower and father of a child, admits a woman in the hospital who had lost her memory. Since he admitted her in the hospital, the doctor asks him to take care of her until she recovers from amnesia. The doctor names her Asha which is the name of Anand's wife and makes her believe that she is married to Anand and has a child. Due to the circumstances, Anand has to accept the situation and takes her to his house. Asha insists that she does not remember any incident about her life with Anand. To make her believe doctor lies to her that she has a birthmark in the part of the body only known to her husband. He also places a photograph of hers with the wedding photo of Anand. Asha yet resists that she cannot remind anything but believes that Anand is her husband and she is a mother of his child.Actors

David D'Costa (Amitabh Bachchan) lives a relatively poor life in Chennai with his wife Mary D'Costa (Jayaprada) who is pregnant. He literally worships the Member of Parliament Chaturvedi (Sadashiv Amrapurkar), and is even willing to die for him. He introduces Mary to Chaturvedi, and with his blessings they name the new-born son James. Then one day while he is busy obstructing rail traffic, he gets arrested and is bailed out by Mahesh (Anupam Kher) When he returns home he finds that Mary has committed suicide. She left a note blaming Chaturvedi for raping her. An upset David goes to confront Chaturvedi, is intercepted by Police Inspector Roop Kumar Sahay (Dalip Tahil) and Dr. Verma (Bharat Kapoor), the evidence is destroyed, and he is sentenced to 24 years in prison for Mary's murder. He asks his friend Mahesh to look after James in his long absence. Twenty four years later, David is released, he goes to visit Mahesh and is shocked to find that Mahesh has changed, he is no longer a boot-legger, he now lives a wealthy life-style, he wants David to forget the past, and live with his CID Inspector son Vijay (also Amitabh Bachchan). David is devastated with this news, but is determined to avenge his wrongful conviction and Mary's death, so he sets about to kill his tormentors one by one - the only obstruction he faces is none other than Vijay who, unaware of David being his father, is out to protect the 3 people.

Shanmugamani (K. Bhagyaraj) arrives as a Tamil language teacher to a school. He is an alumnus of the same school, from where he studied very well despite his poor background and got STATE FIRST in his+2 exams. He is fooled by the students of twelfth standard headed by a brilliant but mischievous student Priya. Shanmugamani is irritated by her indicipline and finds fault for whatever she does. But this does not stop Priya to crack pranks on him. There is also a student in the same class, who studied in school with shanmugamani, and has not yet passes +2. Priya's classmates create a fake love letter written by Priya and keeps it in Shanmugamani's desk. Shanmugamani misunderstands that, it is also one of the pranks of Priya and warns her and gives the letter to her. But Priya considers that he wrote the love letter and falls in love with him. Priya's classmates repeat the mischief again and again and Shangmugamani misunderstands it as Priya's mischief and complaints to Headmaster because of which Priya is suspended without any chance to defend herself.

Parimalam (Urvasi) is a mischievous nubile lady who perennially plays pranks on unsuspecting villagers, aided by her gang of preteen children. These often end her and the gang in the panchayat. A widower (K. Bhagyaraj) enters the village with his infant child (Sujitha) to take up the vacant teacher's post in the local school and is immediately pranked by Parimalam's gang upon his arrival. Parimalam's playful nature transforms into love when she learns that he's a widower. She tries many ways to win the teacher's heart, but fails every time. The teacher believes that a stepmother could not care for his child. As a desperate measure to attain him, Parimalam falsely accuses the teacher of molesting her. She even swears upon the teacher's child's life to prove her case at the panchayat. The teacher is then forced to marry her against his wishes. However, he vows never to touch Parimalam and to remain forever in celibacy. Parimalam relentlessly tries to seduce him by various methods. All her advances are ignored by the husband. Faced with the prospect of never attaining her husband's love, Parimalam decides to take the drastic measure of going through a tubal ligation procedure. With this she hopes that her husband will understand that she would never ill treat his son as a stepmother. Shocked upon hearing of Parimalam's decision, the husband rushes to the hospital to prevent her from undergoing the procedure. He reaches the hospital to find Parimalam unconscious on the bed and assumes she has already undergone treatment. However, the doctor assures him that she has not been operated as he found Parimalam to be a virgin and realized that she must have wanted the operation under duress. The story ends with the couple happily united and in the process of planning for another child.

Bhagyaraj and Saritha are a married couple. Bhagyaraj is a graduate and works as an administrator in a company. Their marriage comes to an end when Bhagyaraj betrays Saritha for her widowed friend. As Days passes by saritha keeps on thinking about good things he did to her when he was with her. In a controversy between him and saritha, bhagyaraj slaps her saying he gives 30 days to return to him, though she refuses it, later she realises her faults, falls again in love with her. In climax bhagyaraj marries another girl . Changed up saritha comes there, begs him not to Marry another girl than her,he refuses her requests and marries. Saritha dares to die with her son. Then the clerk arrives there telling whole thing was a drama and bhagyaraj is still clean. Movie ends up with saritha walking back to his house.

The story starts off with Vasanthi (Ambika) and Dr. Anand's (Rajesh) marriage. On their wedding night Vasanthi attempts suicide and is saved by Dr. Anand. He then inquires about her past. Vasanthi tells him of her failed love affair with Palakkad Madhavan (Bhagyaraj). Palakkad Madhavan is a poor, naive, honest, aspiring music director with a huge family back home to support. His assistant Gopi is a kid wise beyond his age who has the knack of surviving in a big town. They move into an upper portion of the house where Vasanthi lives with her grandfather, mother, sister and a disabled brother. Initially Vasanthi sympathizes with Madhavan's unfortunate financial situation but eventually falls for his naive innocence and integrity in spite of his difficulties. Madhavan initially refuses Vasanthi's advances fearing her family and his financial inability to support her but eventually accepts her love.

Vishwanath is a multi-millionaire industrialist, living in a palatial house with his only child, a son named Vijay. The pampered Vijay has completed his education and now indulges in life's temptations to the extreme. Vishwanath would like his son to get married and become responsible. Megha is Vishwanath's personal assistant in his office. She is a hardworking girl struggling to support her family. Vishwanath asks Megha to quit her job and marry his son, but she refuses when she hears Vijay's strange condition. Vijay wants the marriage to be on a contract basis for a year and, if he does not fall in love with his wife in that duration, the marriage will be annulled. However, Megha's family is in dire financial straits and, so, she has to reconsider this offer. In return for marrying Vijay, she asks for financial support for her family, which Vishwanath readily provides.
