Synopsis
Danny O'Moore, an Irish lad from New York, has not seen big brother Patrick for eight years. Patrick is said to now own a silver mine in Mexico and sends welcome money to his family in America.Actors

Crusty Dr. McRory (Barry Fitzgerald) of Fallbridge, Maine, hires a replacement for his vacation sight unseen. Alas, he and young singing doctor Jim Pearson (Bing Crosby) don't hit it off; but Pearson is delighted to stay, once he meets teacher Trudy Mason (Joan Caulfield). Gerald Fitzgerald, un Américain, épouse Lisa Della Robbia, une belle Italienne chanteuse d'opéra. Ils vivent une belle romance jusqu'à ce qu'elle reprenne son travail. Gerald accompagne Lisa en tournée, mais il se trouve relégué à cette situation d'accompagnateur. Gerald revient finalement aux États-Unis, Lisa lui ayant promis de le rejoindre après sa tournée en Scandinavie. Lisa repousse la date de son retour et Gerald perd patience et commence une procédure de divorce. Avant même que Lisa ait accepté le divorce, il renoue une relation avec Flora Preston. Mais un jour ils sont surpris par le retour de Lisa, qui jure qu'elle aussi a un amant qu'elle a l'intention d'épouser. Lorsque Gerald l'accuse de n'avoir aucune idée de ce qu'est d'être une épouse, de colère elle accepte le divorce, alors qu'elle l'aime encore et qu'elle n'a en réalité pas d'amant. Lisa insiste pour que Flora soit présente alors qu'ils discutent des aspects financiers du divorce et invite le couple à assister à son spectacle à l'opéra et à la rejoindre pour dîner ensuite. Finalement Gerald et Lisa se réconcilient et décident de partir en Amérique du Sud.

À New York, les Lorrimore sont une famille dont la richesse a disparu et qui est maintenant couverte de dettes. Elle décide alors de demander l'aide d'un riche cousin de la famille, Martin Deering. Bientôt des rumeurs apparaissent à propos de leur relation. Phyllis et Martin deviennent amants pendant que Brighton est en voyage d'affaires au Mexique. À son retour, le couple se querelle, et elle avoue sa relation avec Martin et le quitte. Elle commence à travailler comme vendeuse dans un magasin chic, mais refuse d'épouser Martin. Un soir, Brighton la rencontre dans le magasin et lui demande de revenir avec lui. Ils décident alors de recommencer à vivre ensemble.

The story is told in flashback from Death Row as Ronnie Jackson (Hope) relates to a group of reporters the events that lead to his predicament. Famous Hollywood actor Don Bolton (Hope) is a vain movie star whose biggest fear is to be drafted into the US Army. He definitely lacks the qualities of a good soldier, and he is so afraid of loud noise that he would not last a day in the service, let alone cope with hearing a single gunshot when he is on set shooting a war film at the studio. Colonel Peter Fairbanks (Clarence Kolb) visits the studio set as a consultant for the war film, and with him he has brought his beautiful daughter Antoinett, known as "Tony" (Dorothy Lamour). Don is smitten by Tony, and also realizes that his ticket out of the Army is to marry the colonel’s daughter to avoid the draft.
