Nitro is a 2007 Canadian action film. Directed by Alain Desrochers, the film stars Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge as Max, a former drag racer who is forced to return to his criminal past when his girlfriend (Myriam Tallard) requires a heart transplant. The film also stars Lucie Laurier as Morgane, a female drag racer who assists Max in his quest to locate a suitable organ for his girlfriend's surgery.
The film, which has not yet opened in English Canada, ranked #5 in national box office on its first weekend just on the strength of its $700,000 opening in Quebec. Within Quebec, the film outsold both Live Free or Die Hard and Ratatouille.

Emprisonné depuis 6 ans, Max reçoit régulièrement des nouvelles de son fils Theo. Professional racecar driver Frank Capua (Paul Newman) meets divorcee Elora (Newman's real-life wife Joanne Woodward). After a whirlwind romance they are married. Charley (Richard Thomas), Elora's teenage son by her first husband, becomes very close to Frank, and helps him prepare his cars for his races. But Frank is so dedicated to his career that he neglects his wife, who has an affair with Frank's main rival on the race track, Luther Erding (Robert Wagner). Frank finds them in bed together and storms out. The couple separate, but Frank still sees Charley regularly. Frank's bitterness fuels his dedication to his work, and he becomes a much more aggressive driver. At the Indianapolis 500, Elora and Charley watch while Frank drives the race of his life and wins. After winning, Frank attends a victory party. He is uninterested when attractive women throw themselves at him, and he slips away. Luther finds Frank and apologizes to him for the affair, but Frank punches him. Frank visits Elora and tells her he wants to start again. Elora is unsure. The film ends with a freeze-frame as the two look uncertainly at each other.

In the Arizona desert, truck driver Martin "Rubber Duck" Penwald is passed by a woman in a Jaguar E-Type, which leads to an encounter with a sheriff's deputy. Two bicyclists cycling on a canyon are followed by a mysterious black car down the road. At the bridge, the car proceeds to crush one cyclist against the wall, and ram the other from behind, causing him to fall off the bridge. A hitchhiker, hoping to get a ride, encounters the car and insults it after it purposefully tries to run him down. In response, the car runs over him and leaves. The local sheriff's office, called to the first of a series of hit and run deaths, get a lead on the car that appears heavily customized and has no license plate, as pointed out by Amos Clemens (R. G. Armstrong) after he sees it run over the hitchhiker.
