Pop Corn is a 2003 Indian Tamil film musical drama written and directed by actor-cum-director Nassar, and starring Mohanlal and Simran Bagga in lead roles, and introduces newcomers Kunal Shah and Jyothi Naval. The title is short for the phrase "Pop Carnival", with a story-line focusing on why marriages between celebrities can suffer due to conflicts between egos. In JUly 2002 the film was reported as being "in the finishing stages."

Synopsis

Popular music director Vikramaditya (Mohanlal) returns from a long sabbatical to work with a young music troupe and falls in love with a fusion dancer Jamuna (Simran Bagga). The two marry but fall apart due to their clashing artistic egos. Vikraman's daughter Megha (Jyothi Naval) attempts to re-unite her father and mother, but fails.

The film centres on Shashanka, a dacoit who starts off as a Robin Hood type before lapsing into mass, and merciless, killings. He then falls in love with the daughter of one of his captives, only to be spurned. The dejected dacoit commits suicide. Years later, the girl is reborn in Dubai, grows up, falls in love and is on the verge of getting married when she makes a visit to India, to the family's ancestral home. Disturbing thoughts, hallucinations and meetings with a bearded man who is, though she doesn't know it just yet, Shashanka reborn, mark the visit. The rest of the story traces Shashanka's intentions of trying to convince the girl of their previous life characters.

Kuppusamy (Nassar), an innocent man, dreams to perform in Pandi's troupe. Pandi (Delhi Ganesh) is a respected male troupe leader, and the troupe performs in Hindu festivals.
