Synopsis
Two friends, Giacomino and Carletto, have no job and no money and are looking for a job, or any device that will help them to meet expenses and especially will give them the opportunity to fill their stomachs. After several misadventures, they seem reduced to despair, but a ray of hope appears on the horizon. The two learn of a variety show they could participate in, if only they had a companion, a girl with a nice pair of legs. Their early searches are unsuccessful, but then their salvation appears in the guise of a poor and beautiful roommate whom the landlady kicked out for not paying the rent. The trio is hired, but because of the ineptitude of Jack, the show ends in disaster and the two friends, hungrier than ever, must flee with their new partner. In the course of their further adventures, the two friends fall in love with the girl and each believes he is the favorite. They are both greatly disappointed when they come to understand that another, third man, is the one who makes the girl happy.Actors

In 1961, Antonio La Puzza emigrated from Acerra for lack of money in Berlin then divided between Western and Soviet searching for Giuseppe "Peppino" Pagliuca (a Neapolitan "magliaro" who emigrated to Germany years earlier). There he meets two guys, including the daughter of Admiral Attila Canarinis (former Nazi military very much like La Puzza) that, instead of helping the recruit to the tune of 20 million lire: the poor accept Antonio La Puzza and pretends the Admiral, and in the court of the U.S. base to be found innocent, even if not immediately believed, so the Americans release spiandolo in his every move.

Dans un petit village, entre Rome et Naples, les Alliés sont sur le point de faire leur entrée triomphale. Mario Venicio, maire nommé par les fascistes, pense à la libération et juge plus prudent de confier sa difficile place à son ami d'enfance Attilio Capellaro, antifasciste notoire dont le fils est fiancé à sa fille Aurora. D'abord réticent, Attilio finit par se laisser convaincre. Malgré tout, il semble que les Alliés soient encore bien loin et Crippa, le représentant du Fascio, envoie en avant le fils de Cappellaro (qui est dans la vraie vie le fils de l'acteur français) et fait savoir qu'il a convoqué une bande de chemises noires pour rétablir l'ordre. Cappellaro fait en sorte que son fils reste dans le village en le cachant dans la cave, mais pendant la nuit Crippa est assassiné.

Propriétaire d’un grand magasin, le commendatore "Fernandone", est obsédé par un cauchemar où il rencontre un jeune homme qu’il ne connait pas mais qu’il déteste profondément. Un jour, un certain Walter Milani, docteur en sciences économiques, vient le trouver à la recherche d’un emploi ; il est timide et il a le malheur de ressembler exactement à celui que le commendatore voit dans ses cauchemars. In a town, near Naples, in 1900, the cobbler Agostino Miciacio is accused by tenants of his apartment building to be crazy. In fact Augostino is a lively man, mocked by everyone because he is messy. He is very devoted to St. John beheaded, so Agostino lights a candle every night in a small chapel in the courtyard. But some of the oil in the wax necessary for the luminary, disappears every night. It is a fact that Augostino does not tolerate theft, but he does not know that behind these thefts continue, there is a gang of thugs. Meanwhile Agostino, in addition to following the case of oil stolen, must fight against the daughter Serafina who has fallen in love with a poor young lamplighter. But he also has to fight against his wife Concetta, authoritative and cruel woman, so he hopes that St. John makes a grace for him, taking away her voice.
