Akkineni Nagarjuna plays the role of a sincere Cop, Vamsi Krishna, who is sent undercover along with two other cops. Of which one cop is a close friend and associate to Vamsi played by Subhalekha Sudhakar, by Police Commissioner played by Giri Babu to track down a vicious and dangerous criminal named Raghuram played by Murali Mohan. Vamsi performs surveillance on Raghuram's daughter Geetha played by Amala, by getting into Geeta's opposite building's flat in a Residential complex, to gather details and whereabouts of her criminal father. Geeta lives with her aunt played by Sukumari. When Vamsi in guise of a telephone department inspector, pursues her and falls in love with Geetha, she reciprocates Vamsi's love interest initially but refuses him after she gets to know the truth that he's a Cop and is about to drag her father to prison. The rest of the story is about how Vamsi gets hold of Raghuram through Raghuram's daughter Geetha and what facts he learns about the crime operation of the real Criminal played by Sharat Saxena who deceives Geetha's father Raghuram who is actually an innocent victim, and in the process how the misunderstanding between Geetha and Vamsi gets cleared up, how Vamsi banishes the real criminal. The story is about a doctor, Harish (Vishnuvardhan), who falls in love with his student Nandini (Suhasini). Harish tries to express his feelings to her but fails to do so. When he finally musters courage to tell her that he loves her, she tells him that her marriage is fixed to a character played by (Balu) Jai Jagadish, her childhood friend and sees the former like a guru. Harish, unable to forget her and slowly withdraws into a shell. His mother tries to get him out of this shell but dies from burns. Meanwhile, Jai Jagadeesh starts suspecting his wife because she gives importance to hospital and not him and starts misbehaving with her at home. Nandini discovers that Harish has heart enlargement and may not survive for long. Since he has no family, she starts taking more care of him in the hospital. This frustrates her husband even more and he misunderstands Harish and fights with him in the hospital. Nandini goes to her residence to explain to her husband but discovers that her husband has abused a lady who was staying in their house (maid). She decides to leave him but Harish tries to convince her husband that his relationship with Nandini is pure and that he has misunderstood them. Jai Jagadeesh misbehaves with him again leaving his wife hurt while trying to make sense with her husband. Finally, Harish saves Nandini's baby but dies. Achappa (Vishnuvardhan) is a soldier from Madikeri who is injured while the Second World War is raging. In the hospital he meets an Army nurse (Suhasini) who is also from Coorg. After the War both get married in Madikeri. Achappa goes back to the Army and his wife lives with her in-laws. She has Achappa's son but she becomes barren after giving birth. The son is named Viraj but Achappa hasn't seen him as he hasn't had a break from the Army.
