Add to a movie listQueen Louise (German:Königin Luise) is a 1957 West German historical drama film directed by Wolfgang Liebeneiner and starring Ruth Leuwerik, Dieter Borsche and Bernhard Wicki. It was made at the Emelka Studios in Munich.
The film depicts the life of Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, the wife of Frederick William III of Prussia, and her stand against Napoleon during the Napoleonic Wars. It was one of a number of films made during the 1950s that portrayed historical royal Germany in a positive manner. It is similar in theme to the Prussian film genre which had been popular between the two World Wars including two films about Louise Queen Louise (1927) and Louise, Queen of Prussia (1931).

C'est l'histoire de deux hommes confrontés à l'épreuve du cancer. Chacun va aborder la maladie de manière très différente. L'un, Bruno, va se soumettre religieusement à la médecine officielle en acceptant la chimiothérapie, l'autre, Olivier, entrainé par son ami Dieudo, va partir en Afrique pour se faire soigner par un guérisseur. A woman suffering from multiple sclerosis pleads with doctors to kill her. Her husband gives her a fatal overdose, and is put on trial, where arguments are put forth that prolonging life is sometimes contrary to nature, and that death is a right as well as a duty. The film begins 20 years into King Henry's reign. In May 1536, immediately following the execution of his second wife, Anne Boleyn (Merle Oberon), King Henry VIII (Charles Laughton) marries Jane Seymour (Wendy Barrie), who dies in childbirth eighteen months later. He then weds a German princess, Anne of Cleves (played by Laughton's real-life wife Elsa Lanchester). This marriage ends in divorce when Anne deliberately makes herself unattractive so she can be free to marry her sweetheart. (In an imaginative and high-spirited scene, Anne "wins her freedom" from Henry in a game of cards on their wedding night). After this divorce, Henry marries the beautiful and ambitious Lady Katherine Howard (Binnie Barnes). She has rejected love all her life in favour of ambition, but after her marriage, she finally falls in love with Henry's handsome courtier Thomas Culpeper (Robert Donat) who has attempted to woo her in the past. Their liaison is discovered by Henry's court and the couple gets executed. The weak and ageing Henry consoles himself with a final marriage to Catherine Parr (Everley Gregg) who proves domineering. In the final scene, while Parr is no longer in the room, the king breaks the fourth wall, saying "Six wives, and the best of them's the worst.

Berlin, 1931 : Au Marmorhaus, c'est la première de Die Privatsekretärin, avec la jeune Renate Müller dans le premier rôle. La presse l'attend, mais elle est trop nerveuse pour apparaître. Elle tente de gagner du courage dans un bar non loin du cinéma et fait la connaissance du secrétaire d'Etat au gouvernement prussien Hans Simon. Il lui donne le courage et tous les deux vont ensemble pour la première. Le film est un grand succès et Renate reçoit des commandes consécutives pour plusieurs films. Elle retrouve Hans, dont elle tombe amoureuse. Son ancien compagnon, Volker Hellberg, la met en garde contre lui, qui est un Juif et deviendra un problème pour elle à l'avenir. Volker est un petit libraire, mais veut se lancer dans la politique à Munich. Renate veut d'abord le soutenir, mais elle refuse le rejet radical de Hans et s'en va. Elle se rend vite compte que Hans est en danger parce qu'il est régulièrement insulté au téléphone en tant que juif et menacé de mort.
