Raptor (also known as Carnosaur 4: Raptor) is a 2001 direct-to-video horror film directed by Jim Wynorski. It often reuses stock footage from the three Carnosaur films and follows the same basic premise of cloned dinosaurs running amok. It is the unofficial sequel to Carnosaur 3: Primal Species.

Synopsis

When a series of unexplained vicious animal attacks strikes his community, Sheriff Jim Tanner and his assistant Barbara trace them back to a Dr. Hyde, a former military researcher whose government funding for a dinosaur cloning project was cut. When the Pentagon discovers Hyde obtained foreign backing to continue his experiments, they send in a strike team to save Tanner and Barbara and stop Hyde.

In Drake Industries Research Lab in Kauai, Hawaii, two creatures, Supergator & Dinocroc, are being studied. However, Supergator breaks free from the lab and eats two scientists before escaping into the water. Dinocroc also breaks free by breaking the wall and crushing another scientist. It also eats two scientists and goes into the trees. Jason Drake (David Carradine) calls an elite army group to kill the creatures, but they are killed by Dinocroc. Drake then calls in Fish & Game hunter Bob Logan (Rib Hillis) who is also known as "The Cajun" to kill the two creatures. While spying on Drake's lab, Paul Beaumont (Corey Landis) meets a cop, Cassidy Swanson (Rasimas). While Drake has his private party, he meets up with a girl named Victoria Chase. Drake tells her to be with The Cajun. The Cajun meets with Victoria and they both go on a boat and down the river. Paul & Cassidy observe the huge mushrooms. As they hear Kimberly Taft asking for help, they help her in the jeep with the Dinocroc chasing after them. It's up to Paul, Cassidy, and "The Cajun" to kill the creatures before it's too late. Cassidy and her father attempt to shoot at Supergator. Cassidy's father, Charlie, shoots the Supergator's eye, presumably blinding it, and is devoured. As Supergator eats Charlie, Cassidy gets in the car and drives off. The Supergator then chases her all the way to the mill. As Supergator reaches the end of the tunnel, Bob & Paul blow it up with a C-4 so Supergator & Dinocroc can't escape. The two reptiles engage in battle, in which Dinocroc wins after knocking Supergator on its soft underbelly and attacks it. Paul then throws a bomb for the explosion. After Dinocroc kills Supergator, it spots Paul and walks towards him as Paul hides in a trough filled with water, protecting himself from the explosives. The bomb explodes, knocking back and killing Dinocroc. Paul is assumed to be killed as well, but he survives the attack and before he and Cassidy leave, the camera then turns to Dinocroc and Supergator, which are both dead as one is burning and another is bleeding. As Paul and Cassidy walk away, in the mill are babies, of either Dinocroc or Supergator.

The star, the scientist, and some crew members are kidnapped and held for ransom. A piranhaconda roaming the island devours several women and some scientists who are searching for a rare flower. The creature attacks the kidnappers' hideout, but the film crew and the scientist escape unharmed. The lead kidnapper finds a camera. The film within it shows that the scientist stole the egg, which caused the piranhaconda to attack, and he decides to kill the snake and the film crew. The snake follows the film crew, who are in a truck, but it is wounded by a grenade. The second piranhaconda arrives and, sensing blood, attacks and kills its wounded mate. It then decides to track down the film crew. Lovegrove reveals that he had the egg, so they try to escape via boat, but the piranhaconda stalls their plans. Lovegrove pretends to get rid of the egg, but doesn't, causing the creature to follow them. The crew become trapped by five remaining kidnappers, but the piranhaconda eats the kidnappers. Lovegrove, Jack, and Rose get back to the boat, but Jack stays on shore to destroy the creature. On the boat, Rose realizes that Lovegrove had the egg all along. She throws it into the river and shoves him overboard. He is then killed by the piranhaconda. Rose goes back to shore and finds Jack. Using the egg, they lure the piranhaconda to a waterfall. Jack slips a bomb into the case and throws it at the beast; then he and Rose jump into the river below. The bomb goes off and decapitates the piranhaconda. The two make a date with one another. Set in the American Southwest, Doc (Raphael Sbarge) is an alcoholic security watchman protecting digging equipment from environmental activists, though he befriends one of them named Thrush (Jennifer Runyon). Meanwhile, Dr. Jane Tiptree (Diane Ladd) of the Eunice Corporation is breeding a strain of extra large and fertile chickens by splicing their DNA with that of crocodiles, iguanas, albatrosses, vultures, pelicans, turkeys and ostriches. Unknown to the Corporation's sponsors however, Tiptree is impregnating several of the chickens with dinosaur DNA. One of her resulting creatures, a Deinonychus, escapes and kills the activists, as well as other civilians. Doc investigates and discovers that Tiptree is also creating a virus which causes women to fatally conceive baby dinosaurs, in order to wipe out humanity and thus allow Carnosaurs and Raptors to reclaim the Earth as their own. Tiptree dies giving birth to a baby raptor. After narrowly escaping a Tyrannosaurus and the lab, Doc takes Thrush to a house to recover and injects a serum to cure her. Doc battles the Tyrannosaurus with a skidsteer (an action that was repeated in the fourth sequel) before impaling it. The government infiltrates the community in order to "sterilize" the situation by shooting all the civilians, infected or not. Thrush dies from the virus, meaning that the serum did not work. Doc is shot and killed by government soldiers, who then burn his and Thrush's bodies.
