Synopsis
M. Poggi rêve de la mairie de son village. Il est carrossier et de droite. Avec sa femme, Bernadette, ils invitent leur beau-frère et belle-sœur, Bruno et Huguette, profs de gauche pour un déjeuner dominical. Tous les ingrédients sont là, le repas de famille peut commencer : la politique, les histoires d'héritages, l'éducation des enfants, la religion et même la drogue. C'est la journée la plus délirante de l'année et ça serait dommage de la rater. Au fait ? Mais qui va prendre Mamie à Noël ?Actors

Horace Parker, un jeune et riche égoïste, a accepté de financer un système de communication avec Mars à condition d'être crédité comme son inventeur. Un soir, il reste chez lui pour en étudier les plans plutôt que d'aller à une soirée avec Minnie, sa fiancée. Comme il s'endort, un personnage lui apparaît, qui se présente comme un messager en provenance de Mars, dont la mission est de convertir l'homme le plus égoïste de la Terre. Il montre à Horace la pauvreté qui règne dans les rues et lui fait entendre les reproches de Minnie à son sujet. Emmené chez un soldat dont il a refusé d'aider la femme, il se réveille pour découvrir leur maison en feu, et sauve alors la femme. Il invite ensuite d'autres infortunés chez lui, et regagne ainsi l'estime de Minnie.

The Magnificent Cuckold is about a hat tycoon who is ecstatically, if not hungrily, in love with his youthful wife. It is all blissful, that is, until our man, middle-aged and somewhat of a square among his blasé, upper-class friends to whom cuckoldry is a common practice, is seduced by one of them. At this point doubts and suspicions, like conscience, begin to plague him. If he could succumb to extramarital confections, why not his gorgeous mate? Quickly his love for his spouse degenerates beyond obsessive, into the realm of maniacal. He becomes madly concerned that his wife is cheating on him --even though she is not being unfaithful. When he looks at her it becomes obvious to him that she is a very attractive woman. And, all the men around her must be dying to be with her. Gnawed by jealously, he will imagine variations on nabbing her and her lover red-handed.

In a decaying mansion overlooking the Hudson River, millionaire Cyrus West approaches death. His greedy family descends upon him like "cats around a canary", causing him to become insane. The young student Ligurio returns to Florence from Paris after a long period of study. Civilian scientist Jason Eldridge (Hutton) runs Magnetic Analyzer Computing Synchrotron (MACS), a vacuum-tube computer aboard the USS Elmira. He and his friend Lt. Ferguson Howard (McQueen) realize that, by using MACS to record a roulette table's spins over time, the computer can predict future results. Howard and LTJG Beauregard Gilliam (Mullaney) check into a Venice casino's hotel dressed as civilians with Eldridge, defying Admiral Fitch's (Jagger) order that naval officers on shore avoid the casino and wear uniforms. They plan to use signal lamps to communicate with a confederate manning MACS on the Elmira.
