Synopsis
Suraj Singh (Anil Kapoor) is in love with the beautiful and wealthy Komal (Karishma Kapoor). They dream of their perfect family together but her arrogant father Yashpal Chaudhary (Amrish Puri) detests Suraj because he is middle class youth, with no riches whatsoever. Komal cuts all ties with her father and marries Suraj, she is soon pregnant.Actors

Ranjit Rai (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) and Harbanslal (Dalip Tahil) are two wealthy business magnates who despise the poor. Thus, they decide their children, Ajay (Ajay Devgan) and Madhu (Juhi Chawla), will marry wealthy spouses. They try to break their children's friendship with Raja (Aamir Khan) and Kajal (Kajol), who are both poor. They fix up Ajay's marriage with Madhu and send Ajay to meet Madhu. As fate would have it, Ajay falls in love with Kajal instead and Raja and Madhu fall in love. This angers the two men, and they try to bribe Raja and Kajal into leaving Madhu and Ajay. Orphaned when his mother dies of hunger, Babu (Akshay Kumar) is corrupted by Sultan, an ambitious criminal mastermind. He grows up to become "Badshah", a professional criminal working for Sultan. The story starts with Badshah and Abdul robbing a jewellery store and being chased by the police but the police lose track of them. The next day Badshah sees Sapna (Karishma Kapoor) singing and dancing for money. Badshah notices her ripped clothes and gives her money for new clothes and she says that he was the first person to realise that. Inspector Pradhan comes to Badshah and tells him that he knows that Badshah committed the robbery from the previous night. When Badshah and Abdul go to exchange weapons for money with other gangs, the police interrupts. Immediately, Badshah and Abdul run away and a car chase ensues between Inspector Pradhan, and Baadshah and Abdul. In the process, Badshah is shot in the arm and both their vehicles end up falling off a cliff and crashing to the ground. With Inspector Pradhan trapped in his vehicle, which is near exploding, Badshah helps Pradhan get out but Pradhan, whom is resolved to his duty, in his injured state tries to put him under arrest. Badshah knocks Pradhan out but the car explodes injuring Badshah.

Manav (Akshaye Khanna) comes to visit India with his wealthy father Jagmohan Mehta (Amrish Puri), his aunt and uncle, and his father's employees. However, he is nice to Tara Babu's face and invites him to come and stay with him in Mumbai if he, Tara Babu, ever happens to be visiting there. Mansi is distressed by Manav's departure but he assures her that he will not abandon her and that everything will be fine. She gives Manav his scarf which she modified, making it say "Manavsi", a juxtaposition of their names.
