Synopsis
Ranjit Rai (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) and Harbanslal (Dalip Tahil) are two wealthy business magnates who despise the poor. Thus, they decide their children, Ajay (Ajay Devgan) and Madhu (Juhi Chawla), will marry wealthy spouses. They try to break their children's friendship with Raja (Aamir Khan) and Kajal (Kajol), who are both poor. They fix up Ajay's marriage with Madhu and send Ajay to meet Madhu. As fate would have it, Ajay falls in love with Kajal instead and Raja and Madhu fall in love. This angers the two men, and they try to bribe Raja and Kajal into leaving Madhu and Ajay. When this doesn't work, they try to get Raja and Kajal killed. When the children realize what their fathers really did, they refuse to back down, their determination set in stone.Actors

Zooni Ali Beg (Kajol) is a blind Kashmiri girl who travels without her parents for the first time with a dance to Delhi to perform in a ceremony for Republic Day. On her journey, she meets Rehan Qadri (Aamir Khan), a Casanova tour guide who flirts with her. Although her friends warn Zooni about him, she cannot resist falling in love. On her last night in Delhi, Rehan and Zooni spend the night together and end up in bed. As Zooni is leaving the next day on a train, Rehan comes in and takes her away with him. Her parents arrive in Delhi to marry them. Zooni has a procedure done that helps her see again, but when she comes out of surgery, she finds out that Rehan was killed in a bomb blast in the city, and is heartbroken. She is taken to the hospital mortuary, and told to identify his body. As Zooni cannot see any body there, she is quickly made aware of the sweater that Rehan was wearing which she knitted for him covered in blood and soot.

The movie starts with Ajay (Ajay Devgan) telling his son that he should make his move on a girl he likes. The son tells him that if he can go woo another older lady, he will tell the girl he likes about his feelings. Ajay goes to the woman and starts telling her a story. Gradually, everyone around them starts listening and the scene goes to a flashback 25 years before. A younger Ajay is on a cruise with four of his friends. Nikhil (Sumeet Raghavan) and Reena (Divya Dutta), an unhappily married couple whilst Jeetu (Karan Khanna) and Natasha (Isha Sharvani) are a happily unmarried couple. On the cruise, Ajay meets Piya (Kajol) at the ship's bar and falls in love with her.

Deva (Ajay Devgan) est orphelin : son père, qui maltraitait sa mère, a été tué par son épouse. Contrairement à Siddhant, Deva désapprouve les lois et la justice qui lui ont arraché sa mère. Adultes, les deux frères prennent des chemins opposés : Karan fréquente des jeunes bandits tandis que Deva vit une douce romance avec Sharmili (Kajol). Un jour, Niranyan (Arif Khan), un des amis de Karan et fils du puissant gangster Shobhraj (Amrish Puri) est inculpé pour viol et meurtre. Shobhraj use de toute son influence auprès du politicien Om Gautam (Alok Nath) mais Siddhant refuse de libérer Nirayan. Un bras de fer entre Shobhraj et Siddhant commence. Bientôt, Siddhant surprend Karan, pistolet en main, aux côtés d’une jeune fille étendue morte. Sûr de la culpabilité de son fils, Siddhant le fait mettre en prison. Mais Deva, convaincu de l’innocence de son frère va tout faire pour le sauver.
