It is a remake of the Telugu film Vikramarkudu. The film features Akshay Kumar in double roles opposite Sonakshi Sinha and Paresh Ganatra, Yashpal Sharma, Gurdeep Kohli in supporting role with Tamil actor Nassar as antagonist. The music was composed by Sajid-Wajid and lyrics are penned by Faaiz Anwar and Sameer Anjaan. It marks the return of Akshay Kumar in the action genre after seven years. Also South Indian Superstar Vijay did a special appearance in this Film.
Rowdy Rathore revolves around a thief Shiva who falls in love with a young woman named Paro and later found a responsibility to take care for his deceased lookalike ACP Vikram Rathore's daughter while seeking revenge from the main antagonist Baapji. It was shot primarily in Mumbai at SLB production house and then in the state of Karnataka at locations of UNESCO World Heritage sites including Hampi. Made on a budget of ₹450 million (US$6 8 million), Rowdy Rathore released on 1 June 2012 on 2700 screens worldwide. It received mixed response from critics, whilst opening to strong box office collections and became a major commercial success with a worldwide gross of ₹2.06 billion (US$31 million). The film was declared a "Blockbuster" in India and "average" in Overseas by Box Office India. Rowdy Rathore has since emerged as one of the highest grossing films of all time in Bollywood.
Synopsis
Shiva (Akshay Kumar) is a small-time thief in Mumbai who falls in love with Paro (Sonakshi Sinha). He tells her the truth about being a thief and resolves to give up crime because he loves Paro dearly. Before that, he decides to commit a large robbery along with his con-friend 2G (Paresh Ganatra), which would enable him to earn a lot of money; hence he can give up crime. He "tricks" a woman on a railway station (Gurdeep Kohli) and flees with a trunk. This leads Shiva to Chinki, a little girl who was in the trunk instead of the wealth he thought was there. Chinki thinks that he is her father. Puzzled, he is forced to keep Chinki with him, as a police officer (Yashpal Sharma) keeps his eye on him.Actors

Vishi (Ajay Devgn) is a small-time crook who would do anything for money. He falls in love with Khushi (Sonakshi Sinha), a simple HR executive, who then begins a relationship with him. One day, Vishi, who frequently gets involved in fights, publicly beats up a street gangster, who later seeks a revenge attack with his gang. The gangster and his gang brutally beat up Vishi, and easily escape the scene. It is then revealed that the person they had beaten is actually Vishi's lookalike, Jai. The goons escape when they hear the siren, and Vishi is found alive on bike, then the same goons gets beaten brutally by Vishi. Khushi tries to explain to Vishi that she loves him, he understands and they both started falling in love. On another occasion, a police inspector arrests Jai and hands him over to a group of gangsters led by Pedro (Ketan Karande). Jai single-handedly kills them all and is revealed to be a professional assassin and previous right-hand man of underworld criminal Xavier Fonseca (Anandaraj), nicknamed AJ. After AJ single-handedly rescued Xavier's sister Marina (Manasvi Mamgai) from a bunch of kidnappers, Marina falls for Jai but he rejects her as he is been married to Anusha (Yami Gautam).

Romeo Rajkumar (Shahid Kapoor) is an aimless youth who arrives in small town of Dhartipur been ruled by two drug barons named Shivraj Gurjar (Sonu Sood) and his arch enemy Manik Parmar (Ashish Vidyarthi), controlled by a Mafia don named Ajit Taaka (Srihari), who operates in Hong Kong. Rajkumar now works for Shivraj. But his life changes forever when he claps eyes on the beautiful, educated Chanda (Sonakshi Sinha). What he does not know is, that Chanda is an orphan who is being raised by Manik Parmar. After some persistent wooing, Chanda falls for Rajkumar's charms. Just when their love was about to flourish, Shivraj and Parmar compromise and Parmar decides to get Chanda married to Shivraj, against Chanda's wish. Angered Rajkumar beats Shivraj's men and challenges him, saying that he will marry Chanda in front of Shivraj. Furious, Shivraj plans to get Rajkumar killed in an encounter by his pet police officer. But in return, gets a shocking surprise when it is revealed that Rajkumar actually works for Don Ajit Takka and was sent to Dhartipur only to take over the drug cartel to which both Shivraj and Parmar owe allegiance. Rajkumar captures Shivraj's truck full of drugs and drives it to Takka, revealing he himself was a big gangster all along. After giving Shivraj's stolen truck to Takka, he discovers that the truck was empty. In a twist of events, it turns out that Shivraj and Takka had joined hands, and purposely made Rajkumar steal the empty truck. Shivraj and Takka brutally kill Rajkumar and bury him. Shivraj starts his wedding celebrations with Chanda, only to be interrupted by the still alive Rajkumar, who is shown to have been rescued by one of Shivraj's henchmen after he was buried. Shivraj's men back off, because they are now friends with Rajkumar, hence leading to a one on one fight between the two. Finally, Rajkumar injures Shivraj with a power punch to the neck and later kills Don Takka with a ceramic tile. The film ends with all the men beating Parmar, while a severely injured Rajkumar and Chanda walk away hand in hand happily.

Sethupathy (Kamal Haasan) is an honest and upright police officer. The story follows Mansukh (Himesh Reshammiya), the son of a marriage bureau owner Champak Lal (Manoj Joshi (actor)). Since he has grown up, Mansukh tries to help his father in the business, however all the alliances he had tried to get done have resulted in separation even before the marriage took place. To prove his worth to his father, he takes up an unusual challenge of getting an underworld don Tatya Tukaram Tendulkar's (Mithun Chakraborty), spoilt brat sister Indu (Asin Thottumkal) getting married to a cop called Bahattar Singh (Akshay Kumar) aka Khiladi 786 in Punjab. He convinces Tatya to pretend to be a cop to make Bahattar agree to the marriage. But little did the over enthusiast Mansukh know that Bahattar Singh, along with his father Sattar Singh (Raj Babbar) and his uncle Ikhattar Singh (Mukesh Rishi) were not cops but a family of conmen. The story takes a shape as the two hardcore families pretend to be policemen in front of each other and the beans from each side can be spilled anytime which can be life threatening for Mansukh. And to make the situation worse, it turns out that Indu has a boyfriend, Azad (Rahul Singh), who is a criminal locked up in jail. When Bahattar finds out, he helps Azad escape from jail to make Indu happy. But no sooner does Indu realize that she truly loves Bahattar.

In festival it enters Raftaar Singh who is a fun-loving man who is un-educated. He has brought a running lion back. His naughtiness has kept his parents on worries. Raftaar soon gets kicked out of house and his father says that he will not come back until he completes his job. Raftaar gets 2 choices that either he will do job with his father's friend in Goa or marry Navjot's daughter Sweety. Raftaar chooses 1st choice after he thinks that Sweety is a fat girl that will give him huge problem. Sara Rana also enters in same style (riding on horse) who has lost her mother but hopes that she is alive, her father Mr. Rana took a wrong choice and worked as Mafia. Mark, a great mafia who wants to marry Sara is obstacled by her, even by Mark's father. Mark soon kills his own father and hunts for Sara but she escaped to Goa. Raftaar meets his boss Kripal Singh who is his father's friend then he successfully gets a job but gets a problem is that he doesn't know English language. Raftaar makes excuse that he knows English when he was in fear that he could be fired. Raftaar and his friends meets Sara in airport. Raftaar meets and befriends Emily as she knows English language. Sara meets Raftaar's boss and feels safe but thinks that Raftaar is a bad guy. In a time Raftaar accepts his mistake that he once made it and his boss felt proud. Sara soon finds out that Raftaar is a good guy when she sees him helping the women whom the bad guys were flirting with them. The same goons who were in search of Raftar gets beaten by Sara. Emily feels shocked on seeing her that she knows how to fight. Raftaar's friends and Sara gets kidnapped soon by same goons. Raftaar tries to save them, in this process Raftaar was able to beat some goons but unfortunately gets badly beaten, Sara later helps them and beats all goons. She then feels happy and proud of his goodness and starts liking him. Raftaar's boss feels finally happy with his job that has done well and he becomes best businessman. When Mark learns that Sara is in Goa he sends his men to bring her back. His mens breach and try to catch her but she escapes with Raftaar in car but unfortunately gets hitten. Raftaar gets beaten but later beats them all except a woman who is soon beaten by Sara. Raftaar decides to take Sara to his home according to his boss' advice. Sara goes in Punjab with Raftaar and meets his parents. She remembers her childhood by seeing Raftaar and her mother chatting together orally. Sara feels happy after staying with Raftaar in Punjab for few days. Raftaar's father tells about Raftaar's goodness and asks Sara that what is connection between them, she finally reveals that she is in love with Raftaar. Emily also had earlier handed responsibility to Raftaar to find Sara's lost mother. She tells the final location and Raftaar returns to Goa with Sara. Sara gets to old house where she lived and watches the vision as a flashback of her childhood but heartbrokenly thinks that she won't find her mother anymore. Sara decides to go back to Romania and she would never return, Raftaar feels heartbroken seeing her leaving after failing to tell Sara his feeling as he was in love with her. When Sara returns to Romania, she receives a news that her father was shot when he refused to get her married with Mark. She meets his father who is alive admitted in hospital. Raftaar successfully finds Sara's mother and brings her in Romania, she reunites with her husband and her daughter Sara. Sara then finally and happily confessed her love with Raftaar. Raftaar feels happy and decides to marry Sara. He tells his mother about same things and purchases cake,flower bouquet and new clothes and goes to church but feels angry when he sees Sara in initial marriage with Mark. Sara refuses to marry when she sees Raftaar. Mark challenges Raftaar for a fight, Raftaar accepts it and fights him and his men outside the church, Raftaar managed to beat all Mark's men but unfortunately get shot unconscious. Sara feels worried that Raftaar will die but soon he wakes up after remembers the lessons taught by his father's words and fights with Mark. They all are thrown in air in which it results Mark died after saying "You're too good,Sardaar (Chieftain)" and Raftaar is alive byt hanging in a side of bridge, Sara confesses her love with Raftaar again happily and vice versa. Raftaar finally gets pulled back to the bridge and returns to Punjab and celebrates his happiness with his friends, father and Sara. This film ends with a song "Singh and Kaur" in which Raftaar and Sara Rana danced.

The film opens at in media res where street fighting issues are raised in Mumbai. Sports chairman Peter Braganza (Kiran Kumar) expresses his desires of making street fighting a legal sport and decides to open a league called Right 2 Fight (R2F). Meanwhile, in prison, Garson "Gary" Fernandes (Jackie Shroff), a recovering alcoholic, is released from his jail term and his younger foster son Monty (Sidharth Malhotra) comes to pick him up. Monty gets a bit enraged when his father asks about his elder son David (Akshay Kumar) and takes him away to their home. David, now a physics teacher, who has a daughter suffering from a kidney disease, arranges money through street fights. This enrages his wife Jenny (Jacqueline Fernandez) as she is worried about David. Meanwhile, Gary, who misses his wife Maria (Shefali Shah), starts hallucinating about her. Gary then tries to meet David but the latter ends up throwing Monty and Gary out of his house in rage.

Raja (Akshay Kumar), a good for nothing trying to get rich, impersonates Parimal Chaturvedi, a school professor and involves into a school of beautiful rich woman. He falls for rich girl Pooja (Urmila Matondkar). Then he wins her heart. Trouble comes when Pooja's dad Prakash (Anupam Kher) mistakes Raja for Rocky (also Akshay Kumar), who is a lookalike of Raja and is a ruthless and merciless criminal who blackmails people for money or threatens to kill them. Prakash is also on Rocky's payroll. Prakash asks Raja for help, so Raja impersonates Rocky to get his secrets and Prakash's money. But tables are turned when Rocky finds out about Raja's game. Raja wakes up and finds himself kidnapped in Rocky's mansion. He then realizes he has been drugged for the past 7 days, and in these 7 days, Rocky has posed as Raja and is getting married to Pooja. Raja is tricked and arrested under the name of Rocky. Raja manages to escape and crashes the wedding where he tells the truth and Rocky escapes. Raja follows him to an multi-story building where the two fight brutally. Rocky is in the lead and knocks Raja out. Raja uses full power to get back up and pushes Rocky off the building, who falls to his death. Raja and Pooja then get married.

Lallu (Akshay Kumar) is an orphan who was separated from his parents and his brother as a child and has been brought up by foster parents. He travels to Bombay to look for a job and starts working as a loyal servant for rich businessman Jamna Das (Avtar Gill). One day he discovers Jamna Das's daughter Sunita (Mamta Kulkarni) drunk in a nightclub and takes her home. Jamna Das realises how loyal Lallu is and how he never took advantage of Sunita in her drunken state decides to get them married. Sunita immediately refuses as she is in love with Amit (Mohnish Behl). When Jamna Das suddenly dies of a heart attack, his will and testament reveals that Sunita must get married to Lallu or she will not be entitled to any of his wealth and estate. Seeing no other option she marries Lallu but decides to have him killed with the help of Amit so that she can inherit all of her father's wealth. Sunita and Amit succeed in their plan to kill Lallu by poisoning him, putting him into a car, and crashing it to make it look like an accident. His death is considered suspicious, and the case is assigned to Inspector Vijay Kumar (also Akshay Kumar), who is a lookalike of the supposedly deceased Lallu.
