Senthooram is a 1998 Tamil drama film directed by Sangaman. The film features newcomer Moorthy and Devayani in lead roles, with Prakash Raj, Raadhika Sarathkumar, R. Sundarrajan, Vaiyapuri and Jeeva playing supporting roles. The film, produced by R. P. Sundaralingam, had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 11 September 1998.

Synopsis

The story begins with Kattaalai (Moorthy) serving his sentence in jail.

The story- A local thug and criminal who kills people like mosquitoes Masanam (Prakash Raj) slowly rises up the ranks to be a Minister. Vishwa (Surya) and Nilani (Preetha) fall in love, her mother doesn't approve, but goes along with it. Preetha commits suicide by swallowing poison from her ring and Surya who gets hit by a wall turns into mentally challenged with behaviour of a child.

On September 16, superstar Gautham Krishna (Prakash Raj) gets ready for the release of his new film. On the same day, Traffic Constable Satyamoorthy (Cheran) joins back on duty, after having been suspended from service for taking bribes. The day is special for Dr. Robin (Prasanna) who is celebrating his first wedding anniversary. Karthik Vishwanathan (Sachin), an aspiring television journalist, starts his first job with an interview with Gautham Krishna the very same day. On the same day, at a crowded traffic junction in Chennai, Karthik, who was set to interview Gautham Krishna, and Ajmal (Mitun), traveling in a bike are hit by a speeding car at the signal, and Karthik is rushed to Global Hospital. Also at the junction, in another car, was the surgeon Dr. Robin. Karthik goes into coma and is declared brain dead although he is kept alive using ventilator. Meanwhile, Gautham's ailing daughter's (Gabriella Charlton)heart condition becomes worse and she urgently needs a heart transplant. At first Karthik's parents do not agree to take their son off the ventilator and donate their son's heart but Ajmal and Karthik's girlfriend (Parvathi Menon) persuade them into it. Now that the heart is available, the problem was transporting it from Chennai to Vellore. No chartered flights or helicopters were available and so the heart had to be taken by road. Someone had to drive the 150 kilometers in under two hours during the rush traffic.

Marumalarchi is about Mammooty is the centre figure of 38 patti the man of honour who has dedicated his life for the welfare of the village people. He is so respected that the people even erect his statue. In the crowded fair (sandhai) Mammooty pulls Devayani's hand to save her from an approaching cobra. Unfortunately nobody but the hero and his car driver seems to have noticed the cobra. Devayani makes a big fuss of the event by assuming Mammooty to be a rogue. The local big boys (Ranjith and Mansoor), who are also in similar status as Mammooty in their village, beat him up in public without taking notice of his defense. On the whole the movie portrays how mammootty over come on this problems.

Srikanth and Sriram are best friends. Srikanth is the only son of Radhika and Raghuvaran who is interested in anything but his academics. He apologizes for not being able to marry Bhumika as he is a tight corner to marry somebody else for the sake of his sister's marriage.Later Bhumika leave to Mumbai after a job opportunity. Srikanth's parent comes to know the truth that he and Bhumika are not married. They accept them. Radhika know Bhumikai as the girl srikanth loved but he would not accept it since Bhumika might think wrong of him.Later in the train station things turn plates and Bhumika comes to know that she is the girl he loved and accepts him.
